Not really the best welder to learn on.
1. The puddle is hard to see with all the smoke from the burning flux.
2. The amperage has 2 settings so more adjustments to the weldor have to be made...

I always use carb cleaner for that kind of stuff. Cuts greese, rubber, and carbon.


Maybe a pressure washer or take it to a shop with a parts cleaner.

I tried it before on a piece of lexan. It takes alot of heat for lexan to to loose it memory almost to the point of bubbling. It keeps it rigidity quite well.

May I ask what will it be...

Chassis is stiffer the 4 door, if you like the twisties. If they are fully gutted then take it a step further and start cutting.

Problems with primer is that it absorbes oils and other road grime. You would be supprised how much oil comes off of other peoples cars when you drive.

If you can turn it down to a lower setting and lower speed. Instead of one continous bead weld for a second or 2 and then let it cool for about a second. Have you tried a heat sink behind the metal?

man I do not know how much mineral spirits I used. I thined it out until it went on the car well. I did a mixture of acetone and oderless mineral spirits. I believe I need to thin it out more...
