Re: 2003 Honda Civic, Fluctuating temp gauge

I think it sucks either way. These motors don't do well when overheated. Because the motor overheated, there's a good chance the head gasket will start leaking again. In fact the faulty thermostat...

Re: 2003 Honda Civic, Fluctuating temp gauge

You should not be getting a plume of white smoke from the exhaust if it wss just a bad thermostat.

Imo, sounds like whoever fixed it didn't do the head gasket job properly.

Re: Cooling Issues, with a new feature!

It's normal for the reservoir level to go up a little when the coolant is hot. Is it rising a lot? What is the ambient outside temperature where you're located? A thermostat stuck open could result...

Re: 2003 Honda Civic, Fluctuating temp gauge

Sounds like the car has a blown head gasket. You should not have to add any coolant.

Re: ► Official EM2/ES1/ES2 Picture Thread (1.1)

Looks good. Glad to see one in decent condition. The 7th Gen civic is pretty old now, so most of the ones I see on the road are in pretty crappy condition.

How's condition of those rims? I...

Re: what type of pads are oem

I have hawk hps pads and they create a lot of dust. I have to clean my wheels almost every week. I'd stick with oem pads if you aren't driving too aggressively. Less dust and cheaper too

Re: Windshield spray nozzle-Mist pattern type for ES1

What's wrong with the stock ones? They spray poorly? Could just be partially clogged. Anyway, I installed 2002 accord nozzles on my civic because they were color matched. They work just fine. ...

Re: LCA bushing replacement

I would buy oem bolts. From what I vaguely remember, oem bolts were self centering. IMO, not worth the headache of locating metric bolts that are the correct grade and length.

Re: Problems lowering 02 civic lx

They have more cools because they're progressive springs. Did you use a spring compressor to install your springs?

Re: Problems lowering 02 civic lx

The fronts are probably making noise because you didn't index them properly when reinstalling the top hats.

As for the rears that didn't fit, did you use a spring compressor? If not, you...

Re: OEM EM2/ES Rare & Optional Parts

I have genuine oem 01-02 Canadian fog lights. They look the same as usdm fogs but the harness is factory wired in a way that allows the fogs to be turned on without turning on headlights. Not many...

Re: Over heated motor lately? Every wonder why? Answers inside.

My 2002 came with blue type2 long life coolant. I think Honda changed from the green type 1 to blue type 2 some time around 2001-2002.

Re: 2001 Civic (Acura EL) manual transmission problems

Check the simple things before you tear out the transmission. Check you clutch master cylinder for leaks. Also bleed the clutch fluid in case some air made it into the system.

Re: '01 & '04-'05 Ex Coupe Taillight Compatability

04-05 tails do have side markers but no individual bulbs. The housings have optics that bend some of the light towards the sides.

Re: Is it okay to swap a 2001 civic ECU ? without consequences?

You said you wanted to borrow an ecu for testing. I offered the solution to you so you don't end up paying for programming before you find out whether the ecu is the problem

Re: Is it okay to swap a 2001 civic ECU ? without consequences?

You can aw the ecu if you have the key for the new immobilizer. You just have to hold the key near the ignition when starting the car.

Note I think 04-05 ecu's are incompatible because Honda...

Re: Compression Test

Remove the fuel pump fuse so you don't end up dumping a ton of unburned fuel into the exhaust.

Re: S2000 Oil Filter

The larger filter on our cars will cause oil pressure to be a tiny bit higher due to less pressure drop across the filter.

Anyone remember when early 90's Honda filters were the size of s2k...
