Re: Rod Knock? Spun Rod Bearing? - Video Included

One tooth should not be a problem for valve clearance. It will mess with your power band / drivability however.

Re: What is this part?

I just changed my timing belt 2 weeks ago and I knew I saw it somewhere around there. You could probably install it without too much trouble. Take off valve cover and top t-belt cover and you're...

Re: What is this part?

That goes from the top of the motor mount on the timing belt side to the block. It does not appear to be critical.

Re: Audio Question, Prelude Specific. Components/Door

Take your time and you will be happy with the result. I run MB Quart Q's that are from a few years back - still in perfect condition.

At work I've replaced a few broken speaker wires in doors,...

Re: Audio Question, Prelude Specific. Components/Door

I will recommend not installing your crossovers in the doors due to the certainty of corrosion. I've got mine next to the ECU in my '93. And if you spent a bundle on your speakers, they make...

Re: Annoying starting issue. Im giving up

I also think that the starter itself could be the problem. Check to see that it is getting power when it is acting up - you'll need a test light at the solenoid. If it is getting power there when...

Re: What Have you done to your Prelude today?

I had problems with my Hyperflex spring isolators squeaking a whole lot. Ended up driving me insane, and made me replace them with the OE isolators to kill the noise. I will say that the...

Re: What Have you done to your Prelude today?

Felt my balance shaft belt break while cruising at an excessive speed. If my stereo was on I probably wouldn't have noticed, but there is definitely more vibration. Now that I've got to go back in...

Re: 92-96 prelude LCA's

I haven't seen any. For your piece of mind, however, there is really no significant reason to look for another LCA than the honda piece. You can put polyurethane bushings in there if you want. ...

Re: Need Help With Traction Bar

I had some noise from the heim joints in my rear toe bar when it was new. Sprayed some silicone on them and never heard a peep again. If there is play in the joint already, they must not be rated...

Re: What Have you done to your Prelude today?

I would go with silicone dielectric. Vasoline or Trasjel could shorten the seals life in comparison. I suppose either is better than nothing to prevent installation issues.

Re: What Have you done to your Prelude today?

I've had good luck with ceramic brake pads having low dust. Akebono. They do squeak a little when cold but fade better than stock.

Re: is there an easy way to set balance belt?

I thought the maintenance bolt was easy. Some manufacturers make it truly hellish to time their motors. I'm not aware of a more effective method.

Re: Why isn't the prelude popular?

I've found prelude owners in surprising places. None of them seemed to care about the car's popularity, but they were all very happy with their cars.

Re: H22A1 Head Screwed

I've never checked out pistons on an H22 after they hit the valves, but I've seen many other interference motors after a timing slip, and never had to consider changing pistons to get those engines...

Re: What Have you done to your Prelude today?

Fixed my exhaust leak without having to take anything off the car. Apparently I -CAN- weld something without being able to see it!

Also: resumed my normal driving style. What a relief! The car...

Re: Back in Love with my Prelude

You could learn from the experience. Your car looks alright from here, and if you feel better about it then that is all you can hope for. It could be worse. You could have spent two grand on...

Re: long term storage

I would do an oil change, wash and wax, over inflate the tires a bit to avoid flat spots, pull the plugs and put a touch of motor oil in the cylinders. There are dry gas additives that you can add...

Re: spinning ball joint

Are you using an impact gun? Are the threads messed up? If you are already using a gun, and the threads are OK, get a large prybar to apply pressure to keep it from spinning. Once I had to use a...

Re: clicking noise

I've had Daikin AND Exedy kits give problems with their included release bearings. I haven't had problems with the ones Honda sells.
