remove the intake manifold from the head and pry it back. then maybe once the head is off you can get to the stripped bolts with some vice grips.

Your fit has a trunk?

If i were you, I would get a trailer hitch and run a bike rack on the hitch. If you have a sport, the wing will get damaged.

Honestly, I wouldn't bother with swapping non Vtec heads. If you were to swap heads I would do a Z6 head on the a.5 block. Bolts right up and nets you a zippier little Vtec Engine.

Also, I'm not very familiar with valve clearance on these cars but have done them on my old 88 civic. Is it the same process more or less or should I have the certified mechanic do it?

I'm sure there are other car manufacturers with auto transmissions that do well on the 1/4 mile but Honda doesn't come to mind. I get what you are trying to do but really, go with an SI or something...
