I use hybrid tungsten, 3/32 for most everything above 60 amps. Above 200 I switch to 1/8".
I do a truncated cone, always have. I use the same prep for aluminum basically, just a larger flat spot on...

For sure. With this project(250mph bonneville car) I had to try it. So many joints. I didn't take it out until about 70% done though, as alot of the important stuff needs the body to fit and ensure...

Yes, relatively high heat, small filler rod. Cruising for sure. I use .035" and even .024" to get the super tight ripples and high melting rate. Makes penetration easier, and faster travel speed.

Thanks Mike. Always use 80, that's 1/16" rod on .083" x1.25" 4130.

You bet. I started sending those guys elsewhere long ago. If it's a friend of a friend, then 2 passes can make it look nice. Constant feed low amp to fill the gap, then beauty pass.

Cage install I did. Started as a kit, then I fixed a bunch of stuff and went above and beyond.

I agree that the intersected, cut, and welded "X"is not as good when side loaded, by a long shot. It is strange to me how the dual bent tubes are not allowed int he main hoop....

Interesting. Sounds like I should go with my gut and do the tube gussets and sheet them in.
