Re: Revo short-throw shifter failure

Thanks for the tips; I'll look into one of those, or just get an OEM shifter.

Revo short-throw shifter failure

The previous owner of my car had installed a Revo shifter at some point. I don't know how old it is, or for how many miles it was used, but regardless of that, it has failed in an unacceptable...

1996 Accord won't start, DTC P1381

Not my car, but a friend of mine is having this problem with his.

As the title suggests, it's a 1996 Accord, automatic, 4-cylinder. I checked the DTCs, and P1381 is stored. The repair manual says...

Re: Looking at buying this RSX. Opinions please

FYI on the trans: There was never a recall on the RSX (or 2006-2011 Civic Si, which has the same 6-speed) transmission, for all the people banging on about how weak and flimsy it is. Meanwhile, Honda...

Re: 2002 Civic Si Electical Problems

As was stated earlier, it sounds like cut wires (or the main battery cable) shorting somewhere on the chassis. This is one repair I'd leave to professionals.

Re: Getting a Del Sol for my daughter - anything I should look out for?

The big seal that goes around the windshield frame is murderously expensive to replace, as I recall.

Re: Will Civic Si Brake Calipers Fit RSX TypeS?

The part # for your left front caliper is 45019-S6M-A01. I searched a few Honda parts sites, but there were no results, so I'm guessing this particular caliper was not used on any Honda models. As...

Re: Rounded the VTEC solenoid bolt. Help

I used a standard 3/8" ratchet. I don't have a compressor in my garage... Yet.

Re: Rounded the VTEC solenoid bolt. Help

Already tried it. All it did was shave the remaining corners off.

Re: Well, that was dumb...

Well, I probably can't make it worse than I've already made it, and besides the fact that I suspect the screen may be slightly clogged, I understand that the gasket on it has a propensity to leak.

Re: After a cabin filter update, choking???

Any issues you're having with the engine are entirely unrelated to the blower or cabin filter, that's for sure.

Re: Which Years Are Best

The transmission in the 05-06 models have a 4.7 final drive, vs the 4.3 in the earlier models, so they accelerate faster. The Z1 engine has 10 more hp than the A2, but I believe that's mostly due to...

Re: Costco won't install Michelin Defender on my civic dx-g

Simply put, because the Civic does not have a speed governor that limits it to 118mph, installing a tire that has a lower speed rating than the car is capable of travelling makes installing T-rated...

Re: Radio Problems - Please HELP

Sounds like an internal fault with the radio. Re-entering the radio code will not solve any problems, because all it's there for is to keep the person who steals your radio from using it, once...

Re: Well, that was dumb...

I did use a 6-pointer. I'm guessing that the combination of it being slightly off-angle, combined with an awkward reach to get to it, and the fact that the surface of the bolt was sufficiently...

Re: Help a noob out please!

Forgive me, but I think I'm correct in saying that this is a car forum, where people go to discuss cars. It isn't staffed by diagnostic wizards in pointy hats who are sitting around waiting for...

Re: Rest in Pieces Type-R number 20654

That's terrible. A similar thing happened to me in June; a guy ran a stop sign and took the front end off of my 2011 Civic Si. Insurance wrote it off.

The important thing is that you're OK. Cars,...

Re: Well, that was dumb...

I'm thinking of trying the hammer first, though there isn't a lot of room between the engine and the firewall to swing a hammer.

Rounded the VTEC solenoid bolt. Help

Tried removing my VTEC solenoid today, to change the screen/gasket, plus give it a good cleaning. I figure it's due after 133k miles...

The first bolt I tried removing would not budge. Not only...

Re: Plummeting gas mileage

This will sound crazy, but it's free and can't hurt you, so give it a try: Reset the ECU and then perform an idle relearn.

1) Disconnect both battery cables.
2) Connect a jumper wire (if you...

Re: Choose intake

This summer, on an 80 degree day, I observed IATs around 120+ with an Injen SRI installed. Took that thing off soon after.
