With that high of mileage, you may develop leaks in your car. I would stick to the recommended oil or switch to a high mileage oil and save the cash for future repairs like ball joints, brake pads,...

Like someone said earlier, you need to be break-in the pads. Otherwise, you can glaze the pads, which is most likely what happened in your case and is causing the squealing.
