I didn't know how to check the ECU, but I just went and met with a guy from Ebay that had (luckily) a 96 Accord A/T ECU in my city.

Swapped over the ECU's and it ran like a dream all the way...

to clarify:

The male plug pictured is one of the two that come out of the distributor housing.

One is a 2-prong and this one is the 4-prong.

Also : If anyone has a known-good distributor...
