Re: FS: 450HP AWD Civic Hatchback - Mint Condition - Low Price!

Ohhh yea, long time ago. This thread is over 2 years old. Original guy who set it up ended up buying it back - no idea what happened to it.

Re: surge when tap/ barely touching gas pedal

Eh, got me, only thing I could say is a vacuum leak. Try the cigar trick.

Re: surge when tap/ barely touching gas pedal

Did you ever try another ecu with the correct basemap WITHOUT the O2 delete?

It could be the O2, but you'd likely be seeing problems while driving too, I would think.

Re: What can I do to my 1999 Honda Civic LX Sedan?

5 second 0-60 with FWD that rides okay on the street is difficult to achieve. You'll need a turbo to say the least...you can stick with your D series if you build it - really doesn't matter if you...

Re: surge when tap/ barely touching gas pedal

Definitely sounds like a vacuum leak somewhere. Probably the IACV seat. Maybe try RTV? It should really work fine, though, but it definitely sounds like a vacuum leak if it's bogging there.

Re: surge when tap/ barely touching gas pedal

I couldn't agree more. People have been doing that for YEARS in the [bad] theory of pushing out more power. I'm not sure if this was that or just B16 ECU availability or something.

Re: surge when tap/ barely touching gas pedal

Why are you running GSR basemaps? A B16 basemap will be closer.

What was set on the chipped P28, a GSR map?

Re: surge when tap/ barely touching gas pedal

You're changing too many things at once. Try to narrow it down by changing one variable at a time.

IAB removal wouldn't cause it.

I'm not sure what you had on there before but if it was a...

Re: surge when tap/ barely touching gas pedal

Yeah, if it's an actuator that makes sense. I haven't tried that personally and don't have my civic anymore.

Re: surge when tap/ barely touching gas pedal

Google around 'testing resistance iacv' or similar to test IACV electronics. If resistance is in range and it's clean and no vacuum leaks it should be fine.

Re: surge when tap/ barely touching gas pedal

Really sounds like vacuum leak symptoms...try resolving those first, IMO.

Re: FS: 450HP AWD Civic Hatchback - Mint Condition - Low Price!

It'll most likely be up for sale again soon.

Either that or it may live out the rest of its day at the drag strip. Though I'm thinking the former *shrugs*.

Re: FS: 450HP AWD Civic Hatchback - Mint Condition - Low Price!

It wasn't my build thread. A guy in PA built it.

He sold it...then the trans went, then the owner couldn't afford to keep it as he was moving cross country, so it went back to its original owner....

Re: FS: 450HP AWD Civic Hatchback - Mint Condition - Low Price!

Yeah, being able to lay down 450hp without the tires even chirping is pretty fun, must say.

Unfortunately, must liquidate. Would be nice to fix and keep, but w/o a trailer and such a car is a...

FS: 450HP AWD Civic Hatchback - Mint Condition - Low Price!

I am moving across the country, NY to WA, and won't be able to take this with me. Pretty sure I killed the transmission input shaft bearing so that will need to be taken care of. Motor wise it is...

Re: Is stock D16Y7 really that slow?

No, 6k quite often is beating on it, lol. A D series isn't "meant" for 6k, it's meant for 3k daily driver/grocery getter. It has the capability of revving to 6k as does just about any other car...

Re: p1072 system too rich bank 1 YES I DID SEARCH

Yeah, check the pressure.

Then do a leakdown and/or compression test to verify that the cylinders are sealing.

Then make sure you have power to each injector.

Also might want to verify that...

Re: VSS Code

You're right, but there's a bit more to it than you think. Speed *is* one of those factors.

While yes, the VTEC engagement *IS* determined by RPM and the oil pressure must be sufficient, VTEC...

Re: Is stock D16Y7 really that slow?

Yeah, it's pretty baller, IMO. My g/f's highest (auto trans) was 44mpg on her Y7.

Though I personally like the torque delivery (hah, not a phrase used often with D series motors, lmao) of the...

Re: VSS Code

Yeah, on cars with adjustable distributors, it's always something that should be checked.

I'm surprised it randomly popped out, though (as you said it didn't have these problems before). They...

Re: Is stock D16Y7 really that slow?

Yeah, I have a Y8 too and I get like 38 best (36 highway avg), 25-27 around town.

Only thing I could do in like 3 runs was a 16.7 on snow tires >.<.

Could probably crack 15's stock if the motor...

Re: VSS Code

Did you '0' the distributor (use the base timing mark)? Or did you advance it beyond that?

Also, what year car do you have, my '97 has circle holes, you can't adjust the dizzy like that. I...
