A good alarm install with a GPS tracking unit.
Research the Viper VSM550. Its a paid service that allows you to keep tabs on your car via the app they provide.
There are other options as well...

Remove the radio and test/check the fuse that is on the actual headunit as well. Most aftermarket headunits will have a fuse on them.

Reverse light can be tagged at the tail light harness.
Emergency brake can be tagged at the center console.
Use a multimeter to verify that you are connecting to the correct wires.

NVturbo's scenario is the most likely.

Pull the radio and cap off the illuminati wire on the harness.
After doing that replace the blown fuse in the fusebox and you should be good to go.

There doesn't seem to be a price difference between the CD vs Non-CD version.

Look at it as an extra feature that you get without paying extra for it.

Check the harness grounding point that is located in the drivers side kick panel.
Look for any signs of damage and/or corrosion.

Unfortunately I dont recall ever using the factory hood pin trigger on a CRV.

I would just install a hood pin switch and call it a day.

The instructions for the Fortin unit that FCM posted state that the door lock/unlock wires are to be connected AFTER the programming procedure has been completed and the engine must also be running...
