your cap is not the problem. Sounds like you have a problem with the modulator. The reservoir is supposed to be low pressure. If it is leaking, then you are getting fluid out of the high pressure...

sounds like the clutch from your write-up. My first guess would be the throw-out bearing.

with it sitting that long, it would be hard to turn. Key is that you can turn it and it is not seized. I would expect that you are going to open it up anyway and recheck all before installing it in...

Agree, find out what is the CEL and fuel. That will point you to the right direction but may not be the actual problem.
Sounds more like an ignition issue. Maybe crank...

They should separate. I would recommend that you take the whole unit apart and thread the rigs up until they come off the threaded collar. Then you will know if they are a separate piece or not....

Agree on the thermostat. could be that it is not opening all the way so you have a restriction.
Also, do you have any new bodywork on the front of the car? May be restricting airflow.
