Re: The Official Formula 1 2016 Season Thread

Yup, and it will just be another Monday with another 40 years of Mondays to go.

Re: The Official Formula 1 2016 Season Thread

I was trying to figure out how they got away with no welds on the fuel rail and then I realized it was a rendered 3D model.

Fooled me for a good 15 seconds though. :P

Re: full boost and engine cut under high rpm issue

In order to rule everything out, I would one by one turn off any features that may cut timing on your engine. Features like boost cut (obviously be very careful with this one), launch control, make...

Re: The Official Formula 1 2016 Season Thread

I can vouch for the Friday cheapness. It was literally 2/3 of the price for us.

Also, ain't no one gonna complain about taking a half day Friday to go to a wedding. Get shitfaced early and still...

I design light bulb dimmers, really expensive ones. :P

Re: The Official Formula 1 2016 Season Thread

The latter mostly, but the former is also there. You just know that he hasn't done the required work to make it safe, nor has he done the required work to make the design adjustable when needed. It's...

Re: The Official Formula 1 2016 Season Thread

Actually, only problem I really have with being an engineer (mechanical in my case) is being "friends" on FB with all of the kids I grew up with who now own these dinky car shops and are trying to...

Re: The Official Formula 1 2016 Season Thread

Married, own a house, live fairly comfortably... all depends on what you expect out of it. Certainly not a "get rich quick and easy" scheme though.

I imagine all of the engineers who aren't happy...

Re: Post pictures of your collector jigs.

This is not something you'd use a jig for. I'd do this with a 4.5" grinder and some time on the belt sander to make sure it's all fine tuned. Definitely not something you'd want to build en mass.

Re: The Official Formula 1 2016 Season Thread

To be completely honest I don't know if they're using silicone couplers or not, but I find it hard to believe that something like a Wiggins came off.

And that ladies and gentlemen, is why you don't use silicone couplers. :(

Re: The Official Formula 1 2016 Season Thread

What the eff is going on with that cut job.

I have an acre to cut, takes me ~2 hours. I kinda enjoy it, and taking care of a lawn in comparison to building a car is dirt cheap.

Re: The Official Formula 1 2016 Season Thread

I don't think this is quite a 1:1 comparison though. How many gauges do you have in your cockpit? How much of the data is easily viewable? Also, it's not like you are racing through city streets with...

Re: The Official Formula 1 2016 Season Thread

Anyone else blown away that Ham was able to complete 16 laps with no water pressure? Considering they likely run straight water in those cars, the only way to keep the water from boiling is keep it...

Re: The Official Formula 1 2016 Season Thread

Weird to see this, as it is almost literally in my back yard. I was at that track several times watching NASCAR truck races. It was always a good time.

Shame to see it go though. Other than...

Re: Wastegate routing question

I'm guessing you want to put it in the test pipe because it's a relatively cheap piece of steel and easily replaceable if something doesn't go right?

Either way, yes it's fine.

HIGHLY suggest...

Re: The Official Formula 1 2016 Season Thread

Add me to that list.

Used to have a CBR600. One day was cruising through town in 3rd gear, revmatched to 2nd getting ready to turn up an offstreet. Throttle hung at the top of my rev match and...
