Anyway back to my question:
I've a 2002 HRV 1.6 2wd in the garage needing a new engine; constant balls out driving + lack of oil...

Re: knocking sound when start up cold (EGSR)

If it goes away after the engine is warm it's not bearings...it's lack of oil - probably to the top end - when cold.

Run an engine flush, it'll clear the galleries to allow the heavier cold oil...

Re: Stuck Valve? (M.A.R.C.)

just had a thought...it's possible that while the head was sitting around the valve could have gotten bent, I presume from your post its a secondhand head you've fitted.
Thinking about it, the...

Re: potential DA project. Couple questions on compatability (bambbrose)

While the dash is out it wouldn't be a huge problem to swap over the loom if needs be. Looking at the JDM DA's I cant say I've noticed a difference...correct me if I'm wrong...as I've swapped a few...

Re: knocking sound when start up cold (EGSR)

Does it go out of it when the car is warmed up?
Try an oil change if it hasn't already been done, possibly run an engine flush through it, clean up any crap in the galleries and around the cams etc.

Re: Stuck Valve? (M.A.R.C.)

Put the cam to the valve closed position, let it spring closed and operate it with a big screwdriver...this might give you some idea of whats happening...but by the sound of it I'd say you'll have...

Re: Dumb Noob question about ABS (Soulchaz)

You would get away with leaving the standard brake pads & discs etc but you would have to replace all the brake lines (and possibly the master cylinder which may be different on ABS/non-ABS models -...

Re: Weird vtec problems... (oilguzzler)

Car seems very slow to warm up...you might need a new thermostat...anyway, if it is cold the VTEC won't cut an and the rev limiter is lowered to prevent damage. Cold engines shouldn't be revved!!

Re: Integra newbie - power lock related... (_Magua_)

Since the doors are locking from the outside, it has to just be a problem with your inner lock mechanism. Pop off the panel on the other side an have a look to compare it. To be honest WD40 sounds...

Re: Started Motor Thread Stripped (JohnWayne)

Just work the bolt in both directions, come out a full turn then back in a half turn, keep going like this - it should come. A bit of WD40 would help too. Good luck!

Re: Is this an ignition problem? (GDR888)

Sounds very like a starter all right, but the bump on the steering colume could suggest a loose connection on the ignition barrel, just pull off the covers and have a look, maybe even wiggle the loom...

Re: blowing fuses left and right.. (95GSRTT)

Check around the lights, a bulb can actually short out when it blows, I saw it happen a few times and it confused the f**k out of me at first!! Could be worth a look!
