I would be surprised if I'm not correct.

If your fan isn't going when the engine heats up you are going to overheat on a warm day.

It wasn't off but by a couple degrees, but the cel jumper made all of the difference.

OK got a CEL. 71-72, random misfire. I know it's misfiring, but why? Continuing troubleshooting.

IACV was replaced, idle is good now. Still sputtering, changed dizzy, plug wires with no improvement in driveablity.

Plugs will be next.

If I'm not mistaken, and I don't think that I am, the coolant temp sensor tells the relay to turn on and off the fan(s) to keep you within a specific operating temp range.

I'd check the relay...

Do your fans come on and turn off while at operating temp without jumping or using the ac? I believe there is a relay or wiring issue.
