once you do water pump you should as a rule do your timing belt as well, and vice versa....you're there already, so no extra labor, just the cost of belt which is pretty cheap anyways

paint of choice is up to you.... if doing yourself, make sure the part you painting is sanded down a bit(to allow for the paint to stick, instead of peeling off in a year). you can use 800 grid sand...

when temp rises pressure of expanded liquid allows the t stat to openup....i dunno where u come with this temp bs....temp by itself will never open that tstat up, unless it melts it down completely
