Re: Help reading block stamp for bearings D16

If you can determine their for codes, you may be able to determine which side is which and verify the order of the block stamp.

Re: Help reading block stamp for bearings D16

Ahh. I see what you're saying now.
did you keep the old bearings in order or Mark their position during disassembly?

Re: Preparing for hg install, rebooted

The white crusty stuff sounds like some corrosion on the aluminum. As long as it's not too bad where it effects the mating surfaces, you may be ok. Hard to say w/o seeing it.
Don't fill the engine...

Re: Can't figure out engine noise after rebuild.

Key words "under load".
I think you're hearing audible detonation.
Reduce base timing a couple degrees and see if it goes away. If it does, I would add little bit of octane somehow and continue...

Re: Help reading block stamp for bearings D16

The letters on the block indicate the main bore housing size (to calculate your main bearings).
the crankshaft will have letters/numbers indicating the main and rod bearing journals (crankshaft...

Re: New engine high compression test

Numbers look good if they're accurate.
Dont look too much into the compression numbers themselves, just as long as they're consistent.

Re: Degree'd my S2 Pro 1's

I didn't see it mentioned, but how did you lock the rockers?
What type of spring are you using?
Nice to see some tech in here :)

Re: GSR with ITR internals parts list

Is the ECU tuned?
If you dont have emissions testing, Id run an obd1 ECU if you can.
All that work for just a little more compression may be unnecessary if the ecu isn't tuned.
GSR transmission...

Re: gsr build dropped a valve (opinions? )

Green tiny gasket sounds like a valvestem seal being smashed. Was retainer to valvestem seal clearance verified? Piston to valve and valve to valve clearance verified?
carefully look for any signs...

Re: Rod bearings offset

Looking at those numbers, it looks like you could use a gsr crankshaft and a custom piston with the wristpin raised .025". Then your PTH clearance should be back in line and you can use a stock or...

Re: Darton sleeve install on D16 block (Sleeve height)

I would call Darton since they are the manufacturers of the sleeves and probably know best.
"Mach1n1st" is a member here who does sleeve installs. Try reaching out to him too.

Wrong section of the forums. This section is for engine building and machining questions.

Re: Built LSVTEC oil pressure issues

You wont be able to blow more than a couple psi. Compressed air is needed to check the guage.
Like mentioned, if you had zero pressure for any length of time, your engine would be clicking and...

Re: Built LSVTEC oil pressure issues

I would test your autometer guage with air pressure and check the feed line to the guage for kinks before pulling the oil pump.

re: Unknown Issue: A "Lip" Has Formed On Ferrea Exhaust Valves...Possible Cause?

If your valves are touching each other, you need to decrease the valve overlap. Either advance the exhaust or retard the intake. Being the Intake valve events have a much greater effect on power than...

Re: Rod bearings offset

Probably not. Even a b16 head will probably be pretty tight. Everything will need measured to try and maintain your .035" or so piston to head clearance/quench clearance. PTV will also need to be...

Those pistons are full floating? Pressing the wristpin was required to install them on the rods?

Re: Rod bearings offset

You can run a deckplate, but thats alot of machining and fairly expensive compared to just running a long rod with a custom piston.
FYI- My stroker build uses a rod that is 5.531" long and a piston...

re: What is considered to be a "normal" oil pressure on a B-series engine?

I feel like a dick now...Sorry DDtech.

Temperature and RPM need to be recorded when you guys are comparing oil pressures. Cold oil pressure will always be higher than hot oil pressure.
40-50 psi...

Re: Rod bearings offset

It can be over a little bit if all the clearances are verified, but from the pics, I think they are sticking out way too much. That looks like its almost .100" out of the hole.
Is the wristpin...
