The reason I ask is because my buddy just bought a 94' rs painted CW with some Type R interior pieces. His Arm rest is from car 000443. I was just kind of curious to know what happened to this car...

hes an idiot. The car is set with base timing, then it sees knock it does retard the timing until it goes away. Now with the wrx, if it sees knock it retards the timing and actually holds it there...

Use 6 point sockets, not 12, and use a breaker bar. make sure also that you loosen the outermost bolts first, then work your way in.

id do it with the head on the block. Your going to find that the cams are going to want to wander without the tension of the timing belt on them. Plus to do it properly your going to have to install...

There should be cam caps holding the cams in place. For the exhuast cam it will say "E6->" for the cap furthest to the left. As they get closer to the timing belt side they will go down one number...

Unless youve done it before reading instructions on the internet might screw you up. I would say spend the 10 bucks and buy a manual. Then at least youll have pics.
