Re: Whats going on with my cooling system? (fe519)

OK, some comments:

1. The radiator fan is operated by a temperature switch. Its operation is independent of the engine. It doesn't care if the engine is on or off, but just the temperature of...

Re: Battery Replacement (VRDrvr)

Don't get me wrong, I think its possible to get a decent battery from another company. I just answered the "better than the rest" question. Generally you get what you pay for. The extra...

Re: smog problems on 90 accord ex (duanem)

I just went through this with my '90 EX. Turned out an O2 sensor had failed, causing too much unburned fuel to flow through the CAT thereby ruining it, so it cost me $450 to get my car through smog....

Re: Battery Replacement (JakeIsCool)

The question wasn't about performance gains, or saving weight, and nor was it about how expensive/cheap, it was

"is there any particular battery that is better than the rest?"

Frankly, the...

Re: 94 Accord EX idles rough only at about 2000 RPM? (Lowes2win)

I run injector/fuel system cleaner through about once every 10 tanks, or 3-5000mi. Helps keep it running well. Give it some time. Put another bottle through on the next tank full. Berryman's B12...

Re: Hard time getting 92 Accord LX to shift out of Park (faithfulforever01)

I have a similar problem with my '90. I'm pretty sure its the foot brake solenoid or relay or something. When I stop the car, and shift to park, as long as I wait 10-30sec until the green light...

Re: (Justin Klemgold)

I'm not arguing with you, but just explaining a personal philosophy. I agree you got very lucky. To me buying a car with that many miles without seeing some kind of maintenance records is like...

Re: 92 F20 Accord fuel problem (904drlx)

So, you can hear the starter turning but the engine doesn't start?

My '90 with 260K miles has a problem with the transmission lockout switch. It seems to take a few minutes to reset.

Re: another 'car won't start' thread (Train)

Just because your battery measure 12V doesn't mean its good. Try putting the meter on it while someone turns the key. The key is; can the battery maintain at least 11.6V UNDER LOAD. If the voltage...

Re: (Art Of Rice)

Just my opinion, but I would never buy a car with more than 100K miles unless the owner could produce actual maintenance records.

If he has maint records, showing regular oil changes, tranny...

Re: i have a question about my 91 accord shaking badly (apexi5)

Re: Transmission question (cmrvi1)

Have to disagree. Sludge happens when you don't do maintenance.

Re: 96 Accord problem (thanos7)

When was the last time you did a tune-up? Plugs are the most obvious part. Consider wires, distributor cap and rotor as well.

I would also run a fuel system cleaner through. Recommend every...

Re: Transmission question (canoner)

I go by miles. Personally, I change mine after 20K miles. In any case don't wait more than 30K.

If you don't know miles, take the AT dip stick out and put a drop on something white and clean,...

Re: no brake fluid in reserevior! (jdmsteve2004)

You might not need a new master cylinder. You absolutely need to flush and bleed all the lines and look for leaks regardless what else.

Re: Timing belt replacement. (Calean007)

Really depends how good and experienced you are with tools. If you've only done oil changes, it might take you a couple of days. Make sure you have all the parts and tools in advance (like torque...

Re: no brake fluid in reserevior! (jdmsteve2004)

Brake fluid has to go somewhere. Makes me think its NOT the master cylinder. Take it to your favorite mechanic.

When was the last time you added fluid? Most oil change places don't add it...

Re: Problem with air (sultan_8837)

What year is your car? Rubber gets stiff with age, and simply doesn't seal as well.
