Re: (EJ8_Enthusiast)

That is a vtec engine. Your mechanic must not know much. See the green solenoid on the right side of the engine behind the dizzy. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: 96-00 D16Y8 Motor Mnts (mcvtec)

I'm feeling it on the gear shifter as I accelerate and decelerate. When I push in the clutch to shift, the engine moves on the mounts and I can feel the movement on the gear shifter. It's quite...

Re: 96-00 D16Y8 Motor Mnts (mcvtec)

Well after owning about 15 cars with manual transmissions over the past 30 years I've never seen this much motor movement and discovered it was normal. It's hard to imagine that this good. But you...

Re: time to replace stock suspension for the DD 97 civic coupe.. (tortis)

AGX's are adjustable. I've put them on an EJ1 and now an EJ8. I got the rears used from the for sale ads here on HT. Front ones new from the below company. I've been buying from them for 15 years....

96-00 D16Y8 Motor Mnts

Way too much motor movement in my 99. There is at least 3/4" movement at the gear shift. After checking all the motor mnts it appears they are fine and this is normal. They are a lot softer than the...

Re: Towing options for my EG CX Hatch (kaiba)

That picture brought tears to my eyes. My 94 EX had a trailor hitch installed when I bought it. So people do tow things even though the book says not too. The PO also installed a DC 3-2-1 header and...

Re: 94 civic ex coupe.. what kind of oil should I use? (mattc28)

You should drive with regular cheap dino oil until you find out how much oil it burns. If the engine is tight then move on to more expensive synthetic oils. If it's loose use thicker high mileage...

Re: Civic Complaints (bsmith100)

One serious flaw in the 92-95's is the cabin air intake. Must be under the car where it picks up a lot of dust. Stay off gravel roads in these cars if you want fresh air to breathe. The 96-00's are...

Re: (ekinshuya)

I have 195/55/15's on a 99 EJ8 and the speedometer is 3-1/2 mph fast when reading 70mph. Next time around I'm going to change to 195/60/15's to improve accuracy. This my 2nd Civic and both have...

Re: Clarifications (themunchkinman)

I'm of the long drain, high quality oil, school of thought. Back in the 80's I ran into a long drain synthetic called Synthoil. I threw it into the VW Vanagon I had just bought. I showed it to a...

Re: (BEYAAAH)

I did my 99 EX last fall without removing the a/c lines or core. Don't remember which wrench I used but I know it can be done. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: Mileage (MPG) adders... (themunchkinman)

Switch to synthetic oil if you aren't using it now. Besides extending your engine life it will also increase your gas mileage a little bit. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: Best Windshield Wipers?? (Padawan)

I've been doing the regular Rain-X blades also. They work as good as the expensive ones. Next time around though I think I'm going to try the ones from the link below. Saw the ad in the back of Car &...

Re: sway bars? (SpeedoKing)

On my 99 EJ8 I added a rear bar from an Si. Adding the Si bar doesn't create too much oversteer and is a nice addition since it is only 13mm. I'm sure adding an aftermarket 20-23mm one, along with...

Re: 2000 Hood Rubber Seal (Issey)

Your EJ8 came from the factory with a front bar. Is it missing or are you looking for a thicker one to balance with a thick rear bar? I haven't heard anyone mention if there is a thicker one...

Re: Gas Milage help- searched (Aludew5)

On your next oil change switch to synthetic. You didn't say how thick of oil you used when you changed. Be sure to use 5W30 if that is recommended for that engine. Don't use thicker oil than...

Re: 185-70 tire size (Padawan)
