Re: Car randomly dies while driving/idling

So some friends and I were testing electrical stuff last night. We tested the main relay bla bla bla.

Somehow one of my friends managed to trip the issue while the car was running. Complete lack...

Re: Car randomly dies while driving/idling

Well, I took the IACV off and cleaned it the best I could. I didn't have any brake cleaner handy, so I used water and a paper towel and cleaned what I could.

I drove the car for 20 minutes and...

Re: Car randomly dies while driving/idling

Not sure if this will help, but here is a pic of the spark plugs pulled.

Re: Car randomly dies while driving/idling

Interesting point, but I'm not losing power or have any issues starting up. I'm not sure how it could be the alternator. I will get it tested regardless at autozone.

Thanks

Re: Car randomly dies while driving/idling

Ok, so I changed out the ignition coil (OEM #30510-Pt2-006). According to searching on here, that's what is considered the ignitor.

This definitely didn't fix it. I drove the car, within 5...

Re: Car randomly dies while driving/idling

Hmm, that is interesting... I will definitely keep that in mind. I'm going to put in the ignition coil tomorrow. I'll try to see if wiggling the key maybe does anything.

Thanks

Re: Car randomly dies while driving/idling

Well I tend to smell gas when it dies.

Keep in mind I replaced the whole distributor in Oct '07, and I opened it up and it all looks brand new.

Here's a pic; I know, crappy. :/

Car randomly dies while driving/idling

When I'm driving along, the car will suddenly die. No sputter, no nothing, just dead. This happened a few times and I just took it to honda. They claimed it was the cap/rotor and then now the...

Re: [FAQ] DIY How to: How to take off transmission and Inspect Input Shaft Bearing

I just started looking for what this sound can be and found this write up. Although old, it's very informative.

However, yes the pics are down... :(

Re: Hard cold start, runs fine after started (Probot)

The fuel pressure does seem good. After testing the starting, I've pulled the plugs and found them slightly wet from the gas (obviously due to the 10ish cranks).

My thoughts tend to lean more...

Re: Hard cold start, runs fine after started (Probot)

Ok, thanks for your efforts. I want to avoid a mechanic if I can. I don't wish to overspend on this. I may have to go that route soon though.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Re: Hard cold start, runs fine after started (Probot)

Yes, the car is flat in my garage, at it's worst it is MAYBE a 1 degree incline.

I've run seafoam through the gas tank and the PCV.

As far as priming, I've tried turning the key to on, off, on,...

Re: Hard cold start, runs fine after started (probot)

I think this is what you mean;

I turn the key to the on position (not starting), wait 5 seconds til after the fuel pump stops running and then turn the key fully to start the car.

I rarely go...

Re: Hard cold start, runs fine after started (Probot)

Thanks for the reply, but the battery was tested and the voltage is the same as a new one.

Any other ideas?

Hard cold start, runs fine after started

I searched a bit and couldn't find anything on this, so here it is:

I have a 1999 civic ex coupe, 120k miles

Any time the car is starting cold it has to crank 7-12ish times to start. It's a...

Engine hesitation

I have a recently acquired 95 civic hatchback vx. I have no CELs and the engine starts ok.

However, when driving (cruising) at about half throttle the engine studders quite noticeably. At WOT...

Re: power steering??? (Tuan)

About how much cash you think those parts would be?

I'm considering doing this also. I hate parellel parking without PS.
