Re: Mugen Showa suspension riding poorly

Haven't been on here in a long time and randomly saw this come up.

It seemed as they were blown so I bought koni/gc setup.

Nice man!! Went to do the stairway to heaven climb. Usually in Hawaii twice a year to relax.

Re: Hesitation and poor mileage

UPDATE:

Looks like the problem was the ignitor. The spring inside was bent and seems like it was causing the issues.
It's been fixed for the meantime. So much smoother and healthier now!

Going...

Re: Driving with bad lost motion assemblies?

Was under the impression that you can no longer buy the older version and the spring style has superseded and replaced it as a replacement part...?

Re: Hesitation and poor mileage

I'm guessing that drive ability would be greatly affected by this. It doesn't feel substantial, at least I don't think so. Didn't even cross my mind.

Going to take the smart approach and drop...

Hesitation and poor mileage

Cliff notes:

1. Pedal feel and response are different, laggy at part throttle
2. Very Poor fuel mileage under the same driving conditions. Half the normal amount.

Recent maintenance/changes:...

Re: Quick dip in power in my R

On my old ITR I did have quite a bit of fuel issues. 1 of them was was where 2 of the injectors were stuck open and filling the cylinders with fuel until it turned over enough to burn it off. Because...

Re: Quick dip in power in my R

Are you having any fuel consumption problems and less mileage? I'm having a similar problem but with poor mileage.

Storing k24a2 long term

Looking at input on how to store a k24a2 until I piece together the rest of my swap parts. Found a good price on the long block but may take up to a year and a half for the rest of the parts.

Re: Mugen Showa suspension riding poorly

Going to go with a 380/250 OTS koni/gc setup. I enjoy driving around with good ground clearance and will have a finger gap between the tire and fender.

Anything has to ride better than this right...

Re: 99 Teg R

Turbo drain lines with a 90 degree bend using fittings like that scare me. Use a 45 degree -an line to another 45 line and never have a problem.

Re: Mugen Showa suspension riding poorly

I believe it.

Wondering what guys are typically running for spring rates with koni/gc. Was thinking 450/380? Almost all street driven, maybe 1 or 2 track days this year.

Re: Mugen Showa suspension riding poorly

Had another guy take my car out and said they are super stiff and crashy. Something wrong. Definitely not like stock at all.

Let me know if anyone has a Koni/GC or KW setup for sale.

Re: Mugen Showa suspension riding poorly

Moton 3-ways are in a completely different dimension then off the shelf stuff.

Too bad I can't ride in someone else's car that has them to compare to truly see if mine are messed up.

I'll let you know!

Have tried this. I've turned them well past the 5th click to "re set" them and tried over with no change. Going to try it again.

Yes, they were used. Bought my other set used as well (they haven't made them for 5 or 6 years) and they rode great.

Re: Mugen Showa suspension riding poorly

It seems that way.

Called kingmotorsports and mugen 5-way suspension are not rebuildable. Seems like my shocks may be blown from the symptoms I described. They could be upwards of 10 years old.
