Re: 2007 Civic SI build advice (SCCA autocross)

You know that you cannot make changes to the rear sway bar in stock category, right? Or spring rates, or ride height.

Re: Track cars-Power steering VS Manual steering rack debate thread

For 5G's the specs are as follows:
Overall ratio
17.5:1 (Power)
19.0:1 (Manual)
Turns, lock to lock
3.58 (Power)
3.88 (Manual)

So in my case (I can only use a rack available in a 5G) the...

Re: Track cars-Power steering VS Manual steering rack debate thread

+1 for a mostly autox, rarely road course setup. You do have to pay more attention to what the steering wheel is telling you about how happy the front tires are, but the quicker ratio plus reduced...

Re: Caster on EF civic & swapping upper A-arms?

I agree with almost everything here. Especially the part about unconventional wisdom and autox. With a nose-heavy chassis and the need for maximum front grip for transitions and direction changes, I...

Re: Caster on EF civic & swapping upper A-arms?

Yep, back before aftermarket control arms were legal in SP, the only way to adjust caster and camber (beyond what lowering provided) was off center bushings. When I was replacing the front bushings...

Re: Biggest width wheel allowed in street mod?

Any wheel is legal in Street Mod. We run 15x10 fronts.

Re: how strong do swaybar endlinks need to be?

Gut reaction - the car weighs what? 2300 lbs + or -? So if the swaybar endlink were carrying the entire weight of the car (which it won't), then it would be 2300 lbs. of force?

You can google...

Re: 275/35/15 on EM1 Front wheel wells?

One has to wonder if that tremendously compromised sidewall configuration and the amount of bowing happening at the shoulder it that setup is providing anymore grip than a 225 on the same rim. Just...

Re: I wasn't gonna do this again...but this one is special...

Fast pit lane tire changes would be a bitch (imagine the 4 front tire changes rubbing elbows).

Re: I wasn't gonna do this again...but this one is special...

IIRC, this design was implemented to minimize the frontal area of the wheels to improve aero. There is a great youtube video showing onboard of this car running Monaco. It seems to have turned great.

Re: New Car to Build, Which one, POLL

So basically there is no real limit to the horsepower the cars can make, nor are there any limits to suspension, chassis or transmission. Sounds to me like the lightest, best-handling car wins.

Re: Lotus Exige ruined my day

What does an Exige weigh? I seem to recall them being under 2000 lbs stock.

Found it - 2077 lbs curb weight stock. I think removing weight from the Civic would be a good place to start (makes the...

Re: Widest Tire On An AX/RR EG

For a typical low-torque Honda, I would think the gearing of a 245/50-15 would be detrimental (that's a relatively very tall tire) compared to a 225/45-13 (even an abnormally large 225 like the...

Re: Widest Tire On An AX/RR EG

Sort of - I remember a black integra in DSP wearing 13" Panasports, but I seem to recall being told that some minor milling of the calipers was required to make them fit.

Not an EG, but an EF running 275's up front and 225's in back.

Re: Widest Tire On An AX/RR EG

R u talking about a staggered setup (255 f/225 r) or 255's all around?

The problem you're going to have with the 255's (in addition to finding 13" rims that clear your front brakes) is clearing...

Re: Another wheel spacer question...5mm hub and wheel centric spacers??
