Re: Problem with 98 Accord V6. (SkylineGTR)

Honda has a serious problem with their automatic transmissions, but your '98 should be okay. Honda extended the warranty for:

1999–01 Odyssey – ALL
2000–01 Accord – ALL
2000–01 Prelude – ALL

Re: Problem with 98 Accord V6. (OdysseyHF)

Sorry to be the one to break the news to you, but you have a Delphi alternator on that car. It's nothing for a Delphi alternator to fail in 70K miles or less. I guess the Denso alternators were too...

Re: Motor oil 5W20 or 5W30 (greenf1)

You can use either (Honda updated their oil viscosity recommendations). 5W20 will offer slightly better fuel economy, but you probably will not notice the difference.

Re: SRS and BREAK light (natalietltran)

It's probably the OPDS. It's a common problem on that year of Accord. Technically, the unit is only covered for 3 years/36K miles, but this is what Honda tells the techs:

Out of warranty: Any...

Re: Is it hard to take of 4 disc antilock off a 91 accord se (BlazeTeck2000)

Sure, do the rear disc conversion; a lot of people do that. Since it's a front wheel drive car and most of the weight is in the front, it's not a huge performance increase, but it sure looks good. ...

Re: Is it hard to take of 4 disc antilock off a 91 accord se (BlazeTeck2000)

I had a '91 SE. I cannot remember the number of times I needed to grab the parking brake, because the ABS sytem was engaged and I was shooting right past a red light or stop sign. Honda's ABS...

Re: Car still rolls while in park!! (blackZC)

The shift cable is probably rusted where it attaches to the transmission—it's an extremely common problem with 4th gens. It's possible to detach the cable at the transmission and soak it in PB...

Re: 98 honda accord v6 idle surges (tonycvl)

You need an Idle Air Control Valve. Eventually, you will set a P0505.

At this time, I have a new, Honda OEM part available, but it's on Ebay, now; so it may go anytime.

The difference between '5' and '10' only applies to colder temperatures. The '30' is the weight of the oil once the engine is at operating temperatures, so in the summer time, you're splitting...

Re: Water Pump needs to be replaced (STARRMAN85)

The $600 quote was probably for the whole kit: water pump, timing belts and seals. Most techs know better than to just replace a water pump on a '94 Accord. He still spent $550 at Pepboy—that...
