Re: (Mac)

We try to pull 20 inches. Generally, the more vacuum the better. If your mold has a nice flange and you make the bag well, you can pull full vacuum.

The kit does not come with a bag. It is...

Mike will post more pictures, but I'll post this one so we people know that the "tex" parts look good. I'm very happy with the material.

Re: (CivicMexicano)

sorry to hear that. That carbon is really tough to get now. We always recommend people new to composites try a small project first. That's also why we package the resin so you can do two lay ups...

We don't have carbon to sell people right now. I have an order for a large quantity. When that gets filled, we can begin selling it again. In the meantime, the texalium looks great for cosmetic...

Re: (badboyr66)

A well put together car would have a turbo that you have because it meets your spec. Not one that you have because your friend randomly had it.

New t3 or t3/t4 hybrids aren't that expensive. ...

Re: (snowman95)

Is that like a bike muffler?

To be perfectly honest with you, i would just buy a new one.

You could try wetsanding it and respray if you really felt like it.

Re: (werksberg)

If it's flaking off on its own, why would you sand it? That's a last resort.

Re: (Mr. TopFuel)

Yeah. You can do it yourself.

We use PPG omni and a gun. YOu can use whatever you want so long as it blocks UV.

Re: (Mr. TopFuel)

Yeah. You want to remove any clear that's left and then have your body guy put down a fresh layer on top.

Re: (Mr. TopFuel)

Yeah, those can be fixed.

Just make sure your body guy doesn't chemically remove the top layer that is flaking off. I'd carefully chip it off with a plastic wedge or possibly a razor.

Then...

Re: (4dooreg-k)

The mold release we use is the same wax/teflon that we include in the kits.

We do not use PVA.

As far as the tools, we use the same plastic wedges we include in the kits.

Re: (carbonall)

We try to pull full vacuum. On this part we ran between 10 and 15 inches of mercury.

If we use the mold again, we'll reinforce it and go for more.

Re: (BlueLude 94)

Short answer, because it's not a cosmetic part. It's a light weight part for a racecar and it's going to get painted.

Long answer, that's a complicated part with lots of curves and the carbon has...

Re: (BlueLude 94)

The resin is not the clear coat. The clear coat is a clear paint.

That's a good way to make a rough mold for something that you're going to make with fiberglass like a sub-box. It's not how i...

Re: (Mr. TopFuel)

yeah, that will work. Just be careful not to sand too much as that will distort the look of the weave.
