Re: TOYO R1R questions and comments please

He won STX. And he ran the tires for contingency purposes. Thats it. The Hankooks are a faster tire in the right conditions. The R1R's are the faster tire in the right conditions.

Re: TOYO R1R questions and comments please

Your buddy that says the RS3 is crap is mis-informed.

They are hands down the best Street Track Tire available right now. They are really damn good autox tires too, the reason why you didn't see...

At the 100% loaded tire.

I agree with Jay whole heartedly. And everything I've ever experienced shows me that within a certain ruleset - getting the CG as low as possible yields much high...

Re: Claude's pics from Mosport 2010

RF1 is on my Penske's too - basically just means "Right Front 1"

Helps them keep track of the shocks when dyno'ing.

I'm betting they went to Penske's because they can revalve/rebuild them in...

Re: Wider rear tires on a FWD car...

It was on the SE-R. I never messed with spacers on the Civic - just ride height and rear alignment.

That car was so top heavy that it would still tricycle a bit with 500lb springs and a 30mm...

Re: Wider rear tires on a FWD car...

My experience is in a Mac Strut car as well - 91 Sentra SE-R.

When I speak of bell curve - I'm referencing a generic X/Y graph where grip is on the Y axis and Roll Stiffness would be on the X...

Re: Wider rear tires on a FWD car...

I'm having issues with accepting that wider rear track width will increase entry oversteer. Wider track widths decrease TLLTD - so the rear is going to transfer less load across its axle pair and...

Re: Few Koni 3011/3012 questions

The problem I have with this forum is that you guys always focuz on those weird FWD Hondas...I have to go out and do my own testing to learn it on my own for a RWD Honda :)

Re: Vehicle Dynamics and Damping by Jan Zuijdijk

Sorry Scott - I can't find it - I poured through the book looking for an actual quote and I can't find it. I must have inferred this from his discussion of spring energy in the section where he talks...

Re: Vehicle Dynamics and Damping by Jan Zuijdijk

2 squared = 4
4 x 400 = 1600
1600 x .5 = 800

I didn't even need a calculator :)

1 squared = 1

1 x 800 = 800

800 x .5 = 400

Re: Vehicle Dynamics and Damping by Jan Zuijdijk

Compression and gas lift. Jan's point about rebound and bars follow each other. Both lighten the inside tire and cause it to skip over the surface and reduce that available grip from that tire.

I...

Re: Vehicle Dynamics and Damping by Jan Zuijdijk

I like to think of the book as a "Diary of a Mad-Man's Ranting on Dampers"

You notice some of the obvious knocks against Penske and a certain builder? :) I sure did - not everyone else may have...

Re: Loping Idle on 89 Civic Si

Re: Motion ratios and damper piston velocity...how hard can it be?

You were right the first time Scott.

Summation of moments around the inner pivot point

F1 = force at outer ball joint
F2 = force at shock pivot point (opposite direction of F1)
D1 = Distance...

Re: Motion ratios and damper piston velocity...how hard can it be?

He's right.

Tangential Velocity at the ball joint (assuming MR of 1) = 4in/sec

Angular Velocity (constant along the entire rigid control arm) = TanVel/Radius or 4/1

So W = 4 rad/s

W = V/R
