Well, the car is not too low. You will gain some negative camber by lowering the car. Aim for around 5.25 inches measured from the ground to the rocker sill.

We painted ours the same color as the interior and the issue never came up. Worked for NASA, SCCA SF region, Oregon region and ICSCC.
