Well I have both situations force that code. One was either bad plug or wire, cant recall. And trying to replace only one 02.
I see it as a tune up never hurts, and I would consider another o2 is...

I generally replace o2 in pairs as it seems one older is a lazier than a new one.
also, how do your plugs look?

There are numbers on that transistor, get out a magnifying glass, get the numbers, order part, and solder it in.

That part at the top of the fender apron, I think it is called, poke it with a screwdriver and see if its solid.

You need to stop releasing that in the air. If you release a little bit there is no way to visually tell if it is air or freon coming out.
did you pull a vacuum on the entire system before...

So distributor removed then another put on, then original reinstalled. Sounds like they didnt time the dizzy correctly.

You could only see a warped rotor of it was really bad. If you have a dial indicator you could set up on disk and rotate by hand to check runout. Trust me I have bought new rotors from one of those...
