update: when somebody is sitting in the passenger seat, the noise goes away. it's only when im driving by myself and turning left with speed or making a quick u turn that the pop happens.

ill have to check near the distributor. could the water pump seal be a possibly? obviously cant see that one, but im not getting that sweet smell around that area.
