Re: YCU Built/Tuned Stock Sleeve Built LS 422/309

These numbers are not out of line, or anything more than a healthy setup that wants to make power. If one of these so-called tuners knew more about dynos they'd realize this; I don't even own a...

Re: Is this clearance acceptable, or did the machine shop mess up?

Ideal stock is considered to be 0.0015", and ACL race bearings (or equivalent) are designed for an extra thousandth. 0.0022" isn't a problem, the motor will last a good long while, it's just not a...

Re: question about 1st time fire up

Anything built for a turbo will be put together loose, and will require boost pressure to seat the rings correctly. Ideally you have the rigns seated in the first 20 minutes - bring the engine up to...

Re: Can I use the Hondata S300 with my stock injectors?

Have you ever spoken to Doug MacMillan? I have, on the phone and in person. He is an idiot.

Re: Better cooling solutions?

You're overcomplicating things. Civic single core half radiator cools 600whp heavyslut DC chassis Integra if you don't block the radiator with the IC. Don't block the radiator by trying to make the...

Re: How can i get in contact with cc-fab.

Don't listen to these guy's nonsense. Josh does a poor job of answering his shop phone, but is pretty good about returning messages you leave him. Top notch work, top notch guy.

Re: Bisimoto's 1st full Turbo build: Quest for 700whp D16Z WagoVan

I must admit to being a little confused how you get 700 through a single diaphragm clutch. Not to be smart, but really? Are you better at torquing a pressure plate than I am?

Yah. NA...

Re: K series 77 civc

Are you sure? I remember maybe 5-6 1st gen Civics in the last 15 years. 2G+, yeah, we've had a lot of those.

Re: 1983 Civic Wagon (I might buy) Need comments

I think I'd buy it with very few questions. I'm also partial to cool old cars, you might not be quite as much,

Re: Timing belt change on my CRX

Those engines love to break the cam when the timing belt goes. Or break the cam when run low on oil, stripping out the timing belt of a few teeth.

If the teeth that remain aren't peeling off...

Re: 1984 crx

It's trivial to convert the car to a pure hydro clutch. Cable clutches suck compared to hydro, it's one of the things I would budget for, even if I didn't have a lot of $ to toss around.

Re: The F-ed Up 1st Gen Civic

I highly recommend not running that china turbo, sir, and buying something made by an OEM manufacturer (Garrett, et al) or someone who uses OEM manufacturer center sections (Precision, ATP, etc).

Re: my 1980 Civic Turbo GSR swap... now with paint!

In this context, sadly appropriate. It's super hard to find 1200 parts anymore, it makes engine swaps like this necessary.

Re: 1986 civic STILL overheating... seems like I tried everything...

Wait, addendum. Does the car start funny when warm or hot? Is the powerband abnormally strong down low or up top, with the rest of the driving experience being blah? With all the overheating you...

Re: 1986 civic STILL overheating... seems like I tried everything...

That's odd. If the headgasket were breached, placing a higher load on the engine should make it overheat faster. Check for blockage of the radiator (AC condensor full of crap will do it) and make...

Re: Temporary FMU Use till tune B16 Need Help.

I distinctly recall running through the math behind FMUs. You very much can dictate desired AFR @ target pressure with the caveats of any other pressure is skewed rich/lean and higher pressures than...

Re: Oil temperature

I've seen some cars start to smoke (thinned oil through the turbo) past 230 F. Two of them were from ditching the factory oil cooler and going with the Apexi tach that comes with a sandwich plate...

Re: Whit smoke low comp

I think you have headgasket and piston damage. I've seen huge sections of headgasket blown out in Honda applications, pushed out the back of the block in DSMs, and still have some compression...

Re: Temporary FMU Use till tune B16 Need Help.

You advocate running the leaner ratio on an untuned and untunable setup? Really?

Since the FMU is placed behind the FPR, that is not how it works.

While the FPR is the primary...

Re: Difference between T3 .48 and .63

If it's an OEM-equivalent piece of china garbage, you aren't going to see a big difference. 200 rpms quicker spool and you'd need a dyno to measure the power difference as the butt dyno can't pick...

Re: at what point should you replace the stock valves

Most aftermarket springs are very much NOT good for 10-10.5K rpms in a turbo motor. You are talking 100 in/lb spring rates and large seat pressures, minimum, and the camshafts become consumable...

Re: two crx's into one

I had an '86 CRX Si twelve-thirteen years ago. Purchasing another (3G Civic Si, actually) is just like coming home, isn't it?
