Re: 93 EX Coupe - Cruise control troubleshooting, RE speed sensor

I did check that and did not get continuity between the two wires. I see where it's the same signal/wire that goes directly to the gauges to control the speedometer. Does the fact that the...

re: 93 EX Coupe - Cruise control troubleshooting, RE speed sensor

No codes. Also, the control unit had evidence of water inside it. The case was badly corroded, and there were multiple diodes inside that had failed. Looked like corrosion similar to battery acid...

93 EX Coupe - Cruise control troubleshooting, RE speed sensor

I was working on troubleshooting my cruise control issue this morning and I think I tracked it down to the control unit. All the input tests for the control unit passed, except for one and I am...

Re: Oil pan gasket leak, improper install?

If you had to make an educated guess based on what I've posted, would you say oil pump leak? I don't want to have to take it apart, then put it back together, wait a week and do it all over again. ...

Re: Oil pan gasket leak, improper install?

Any idea what could be going on with the cover? It appears to be seated in the 1st picture I posted in post #9. Warped maybe?

Re: Oil pan gasket leak, improper install?

Would that be the same leak that you refer to in post #7? When I had the covers off last time there were no leaks from either the cam or crank seal.

Re: Oil pan gasket leak, improper install?

Here are a few more pictures.

First, taken as soon as I drove up on the ramps. Car has been driven 3 days since oil pan gasket was replaced....

Re: Oil pan gasket leak, improper install?

Where did your leak show up at? Before I put everything back together I looked all around that area and didn't see any signs of a leak. I was almost 100% sure it was the oil pan gasket. I noticed...

Re: Cranks, but no start. Igniter or Coil?

I appears the coil was the problem. I stopped an picked one up this afternoon. Got it installed and it fired right up. Now I just need to adjust the timing again since i had removed the...

Re: Cranks, but no start. Igniter or Coil?

I would, but I'm not sure they would take back a used/installed electrical part.

Re: Cranks, but no start. Igniter or Coil?

I guess I just wanted to confirm the igniter was OK, and see if I had any spark at all. I didn't want to crank the engine over and flood the cylinders. After I cranked it a while while trying to...

Re: Cranks, but no start. Igniter or Coil?

The original TEC coil shows 12.58K ohms from A to secondary, and .7 ohms from A to B. The duralast coil (the one that was on the car until yesterday) shows 10.38K ohms A to secondary, and 0.7 ohms...

Re: Cranks, but no start. Igniter or Coil?

Ron, I saw in another thread where you said not to crank the engine over with the distributor cap off or you would risk blowing the coil. When I was replacing the oil pan gasket the other day, I...

Re: Cranks, but no start. Igniter or Coil?

Cool, thanks. I will run that test tonight on the igniter, as well as retest the coils.

Just to make sure I'm doing this right, here's a pic of my multimeter:...

Re: Cranks, but no start. Igniter or Coil?

OK, I'll try that this afternoon. Does the temperature make that much of a difference? Yesterday when the coil was tested off the car, it was around 70-75 in my shop.

Not sure if this makes a...

Re: Cranks, but no start. Igniter or Coil?

No I meant to, but forgot. I did crank the motor to turn the distributor rotor to get access to remove the bolt. The distributor turned so I think that rules out the timing belt.

I just checked...
