well, it must be an inexpensive one with a regular dial. i forgot to mention that you need to zero it first, take the gauge off, in order to torque the bolt/nut with a torque wrench. then put it back...

when using a rod bolt stretch gauge, you want to position the dial side of the gauge on the same side as the rod cap. you also want to also preload the dial, at least 1 revolution on the dial...

check the keyway on the distributor side of the intake cam. i once had a piece of the keyway break off the intake cam(where the distributor key goes in) and got stuck between the cam and cam journal....

its most likely the coil. do a quick test with a test light. take off the dist. cap and tap into the positive side of the coil with a piece of electrical wire. it needs to be long enough to be routed...

no your block is not from a '94.i was not aware that you still had the thermoswitch in the back still. since you have the thermoswitch in back of the block then i would not cut the bullet connectors...
