You are making this too difficult. All you have to do is make sure the the outer two rockers are locked to the inner rocker for the cylinder you are checking. There is (at least) a half dozen ways...

With stock rods and stock rod bolts, I would not recommend running less than 0.8mm piston to head clearance above 8500 rpm. It's OK to use a quality head gasket (Cometic) to achieve this.

Take the 310's out and put the stock injectors back in. Drop your fuel pressure to 45psi with the vacumme line disconnected.

You probably won't find much. Anyone using alchohol in an all motor setup is pumping it through the fuel injectors. You might find a little bit of discussion about ethanol if you look.
