FRESH D16Y8 S40 Transmission w/ GearSpeed Bearing/Seal/Carbon Synchro Kit Installed
I have a FRESHLY REBUILT S40 ('96-'00 Civic EX, D16Y8) transmission that we had intended on running in a '95 turbo Hatchback, but funding for that particular project has dried up and so we must cut our losses. The Gearspeed rebuild kit (components shown in pic below), along with their Carbon/Moly-coated synchro rings, consists of OEM-brand Japanese NOK(TM) ball bearings and seals. The clutch slave cylinder is also freshly rebuilt w/ new seals, etc. Comes with NEW starter shown all mounts shown (if needed).
$550 + exact shipping cost ... which will vary greatly depending on your location. East coast will be somewhere between $30 - $50; West coast will be $70 - $90; Mid-country will be somewhere between the two. PM me with your FULL address for an exact shipping quote.

Winning bidder ended up being local and buying a different tranny that I had for sale, so this one is still up for grabs...
Used Y8 transmissions described as "running great when pulled" go for between $300 and $400 -- Gearspeed synchro/bearing kit was $275 -- so $600 + shipping is a great price considering everything that's been done and everything that comes with the package...

Bought a rebuilt 4040 prop valve off this guy in person. Will vouch for good seller. Im mad cuz my 2nd and 3rd gear synchros are going but i dont have the cash for this tranny. Good luck dude

This thing is pretty damn clean, I spent A TON of time and quite a bit of cash on it too. Unfortunately this isn't the kind of thing that people buy just to have on hand whenever they might need one so I'll have to hang onto it until someone actually needs it...

I've used Gearspeed synchro kits with all of my "built" engines and each of them shifted like butter beyond 8k rpm...
Considering the wear rate of brass vs. a synthetic carbon-moly compound and the number of "spirited" high-rpm shifts likely often occur, I would *highly* recommend at least considering this trans; if nothing else from a longevity standpoint.
Spring will be here before you know it, which means everyone else will be finishing up their builds and hitting the streets. Make sure you've got a tranny that can reliably take the abuse to keep your competition in your rearview mirror...
