Default D16y5 cylinder head for sale, (hx vtec-e)

EDIT: if you have a y5 head for sale, feel free to post it here
for price references:
I just sold mine for 160 shipped with a solenoid, valve cover and no dizzy.

To parallel my engine project, I have acquired an extra d16y5 cylinder head. (my d16b5 civic gx engine came with the same cylinder head)
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1414454

I put less than 2000 miles on it, and the original seller said it has the infamous "40,000 miles on it" Which usually sounds like BS, however this head is still very clean with no oil stains. (i'll get high res pics of everything tonight)

Includes: Cylinder head (1998, so no annoying air injection), vtec solenoid, valve cover, valve cover gasket, all intake + header studs.

Asking BEST OFFER. I'll post more technical info after I get back from taking a poo

Why do you want this cylinder head: Since that is a question that I asked myself back in october, I see it very fit to include here why I decided to go with the d16y5 cylinder head.
1. it's the same head casting as the d16y8, so it's a vtec-e head, with the large ports (unlike the d15z1) (verified by that part numbers)
2. Honda realized that the 12/16valve vtec-e design was superior, hence the reason that they utilized it on the 01-05 civic ex, and the new fit vtec.
3. it has roller rockers, which significantly reduce friction and allow for a HUGE cam. Now I've already done the research for this, And crower offers cam regrinds for $95. I will attach a email that was sent to me from "Brian Crower"
4. If you're doing a overall efficiency project, this is the head that you want, it has the superior 12v "swirl" for good low rpm fuel mixture, and the 16valve mode for power, Much superior than the normal vtec design. Some will argue that the jdm obd2 3stage vtec would be a better basis for this project. However I strongly disagree. If you wish to debate this, feel free contact me. I am honestly interested in your view on this.
5. Even if you don't care about fuel economy, build this head (remember, it's just like a d16y8 aluminum head with different rockers + cam) And get a HUGE cam. You won't have to worry about the low rpm roughness, because you can just disable one of the intake valves
6. It's in good condition, seriously. I'll show you the pictures.
7. I have done all of the research for you.

downsides:
It needs valve cover bolts. (same as d15z1, d16y5/d16y7/d16y8/d16z6)
it will require a custom tune.
if you're putting it on a 88-95 you'll need one single 96-00 head bolt (included)
missing the 3 bolts that hold the distributor on.

Still with a custom cam, This VTEC-E head could theoretically produce more power than the D16Y8 VTEC head ever could. Since the rollers would allow for a cam lobe so aggressive that the regular followers would fail.

as you can see, I've done my research very thoroughly and have somehow created a thread which is now 28 pages long THOROUGHLY documenting all of my findings + research. more info about the vtec-e design

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Bense &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">The engine has a normal 4 valve per cylinder valve arrangement. At low RPM, the primary intake valve operates at normal lift while the secondary valve opens only slightly to prevent fuel accumulation in the intake port. At high RPM, the secondary intake valve rocker arm is connected to the primary intake valve rocker arm to allow normal valve lift. A synchronizing piston connects/disconnects the two intake valve rocker arms. Hydraulic pressure against a timing piston moves the synchronizing piston one direction, while a stopper piston and return spring moves the synchronizing piston back when hydraulic pressure is released.

****, I'm very interested. I'm going to pull my head to put new HG and ARP's soon, so this could just be a solution. Otherwise, bump to help you out.

i've been chatting with blundar, creator and master of pgmfi.org on a way to read the only hx rom dump.

as of now, it requires custom tuning though.

Bump this back up cause I have the same exact head for sale.

1998 HX P2N cylinder head

Complete including intake manifold,Fuel rail and fuel line, EGR valve, Vtec solenoid without valve cover. Head has around 86k on it.

Im looking for around the same price, maybe a little less then bense sold his for since mine has a little more milage.

I also have a P2N ecu for sale, a P2N 5 speed harness, and a 5-Wire O2.

Thank you BENSE for letting me use your thread.

can this be used on a 92-95 jdm D15B block? i failed smog with EX ecu & D15B longblock. so im lookin for a vx or Vtec-E head to put on my 1.5L D15B. I will be using the old VX harness and ecu. does that need any special mods?

if you put a vx head on a d15b, your compression will shoot through the roof.
