When changing brake pads... resurface, replace, scuff up, or ?
I'm getting ready for another NASA HPDE this Sunday and will be changing my brake pads (Axxis Ultimates). The pads have worn out evenly and there are no evident scratches in the rotors. The current pads have enough life left to probably last the HPDE, but I figure I better be safe and swap in the new ones. I'll be swapping in new Axxis Ultimates so the pads are the same compound.
Question is, should I replace, resurface, scuff the rotors, or just slap on the new pads? The current pads and rotors have only been on the car for ~12k miles including 3 track days. They never overheated and never faded. I broke in the pads by doing the med 40-10mph stops, then cool, then 60-20mph stops then cool overnight method and plan to do the same with this set.
Any advice is appreciated.

keep the rotors as is.
if you are at all worried that you may warp them badly over the course of the weekend take a spare pair with you to the track, they're easy enough to change in the paddock.

yeah I always have an extra set of old rotors (not too old to get me home). The only thing I'm worried about with the current rotors is the pads not beraking in properly or something ....

that's always a fear of mine... you could just get a set of autozone blanks and follow the break-in procedure for the pads. Are you going to be at streets this whole weekend? Im only going to be there this sat.

I'm actually going to be at the big track with NASA on Sunday only. If I was runninig Streets I'd probably just run the pads that are on there since it's pretty low speed and relatively light on pad wear. This is my first time on the big track so I'm probably not going to take the chance of running the old pads.

dude, don't stress over it. your pads will break in fine. I have never worried about it when changing pads, even when changing between pad brands and I have been fine. Put your new pads on and bed them in. Let your blood pressure lower. That's not worth worrying about.
Sebastien, who has learned the hard way (and is still learning) what is worth stressing over and what is not.

Big track is fun, but my car has never touched it. I drove it with a Coopers-s. That uphill bowl is pretty cool, going down hill is a little scary coming out of that thing but it was fun none the less. I remember in September we were at streets and a motorcyclist at Big Willow ate it at 120 at the entrance to the last sweeper. The corner worker wasn't even paying attention.anyway, have fun. sunday and let us know how it goes, stop by streets on sat if you have the time.
