I've been searching around to trying to find some recent threads on this topic and didn't come up with anything.

I wanted to see what everyone is using for their transmission fluid of choice?

This past season I used Honda MTF with Ford Friction Modifier (for my MFactory Clutch Type LSD) and was rather disappointed with the results. The transmission got notchy after only a few hard laps and I was finding myself flushing it a lot more frequently then I'd like to.

I've started looking for something better suited for hard track abuse and have landed on Motul's products.

I was looking specifically at the
Motul Gear Competition FF 75W140 or the Motul Gear 300 LS 75W90

I'm trying to see if anyone has any experience with these fluids and see what type of experience they had.

Any others out there that anyone can recommend?

I have a gear type LSD but recently I switched from Honda MTF mixed with penzoil synchromesh to redline shock proof Light weight. I did this at mid day after 4 30 min hard sessions. The problems I had in the morning never resurfaced over the next 12 sessions I did that weekend. My trans was notchy and very hard to get in and out of gear until the change.

The Motul ff type 2 or something like that is made for clutch type so look at that.

I will be running the redline from now on after having real results and not just people jocking the latest brand they hear about.

I gotta say, I will prob try the redline shockproof lightweight too. I ran Torco MTF last year and from my off season reading I will def be ordering the redline here soon.

I ran torco RTF last year, and had no issues with a helical diff. This year I have changed to a carbon plate diff and I will be trying out the motul ff type 2, it should be in the mail right now.

I ran the redline with fairly low whp (350ish) and sheered teeth of my counter shaft... Not saying it was or was not the culprit but take that into consideration. I thought it did well shifting when it got hot but when its cold outside it is a little tough getting in gear.

I think the 350 at the wheels had more to do with it.

Most Honda race cars that are in a class are ~200 and below at the wheels.

Would you recommend the redline lightweight for a stock integra gsr? My transmission has been very notchy, it's either because i'm not using Honda MTF or because i just am using a bad fluid. My car is a daily driver but it's occasionally tracked/autox. Sorry not trying to thread jack

GEARSPEED SS Synchros
Shifts smoooooth like buttah.

I used Redline before but it not only smells absolutely horrible but it breaks down too fast.

Would you guys recommend it for a higher who (300/290tq) track car? Ive been running synchromesh, and it works ok ( d16 box/f23 engine/quaife)....but gets notchy after a few days on track

all ive been runnin in my Type R trans with 4.9 final is stock honda fluid.. had no problems for 4 years now...

I typically change mine every 2-3 events or when the transmission feels notchy like I described above.

On the advice of my tranny builder, and Motul rep, they say to check it every few events and if it hasnt broken down to put it back in.

Id imagine id start to feel that "notchy" feeling while shifting if it were breaking down too.

That would be my indicator.

I've been using the Cusco LSD gear oil for my trans (80w90).

I'm using an ATS clutch LSD in my CTR trans.

no chatter at all, even at low speed parking lots.

i change it out every 2 lapping days, but i also daily on this fluid as well.

i tried a motul one, but it didn't feel good at all. i don't think it's the FF fluid you guys have though. tried a redline fluid as well and also felt like crap (chattered badly).

only downside is the cost of the Cusco fluid (~$30/L)

When you say you have tried Motul and Redline and the felt crappy which ones were they?

I ran a Motul gear fluid which was not the right one for my trans and it was not good. I figured out quickly of MY error and put in the right fluid that I had locally. I ran a redline gear oil that was not a shockproof line and it was not good.

Redline as well as Motul have several different products available to meet the requirements of your transmission if you research it.

If i recall, it was the Motul Gear 300 oil in 75w90 that i tried (not the FF stuff).

LSD would chatter quite a bit when making normal turns driving around the streets. even worse when it was on cold starts and the oil wasn't warmed up in the trans.

the Redline stuff i do not remember as i had a shop put it in because they couldn't get any of the Cusco stuff in time. all i remember was it was in a white bottle, sorry.

the Redline oil chattered worse than the motul and i felt every shift being a bit 'crunchy' on the shift ****.

the stuff i use (pictured above) is nice and smooth. you'd like it in a street car as well as a race car.
