Street Touring Civic CX with z6 swap
Searched:
Hey guys and gals.
I am finally ready to take the plunge and put together a track car. A bunch of guys that I work with have miatas, mustangs, saabs, BMW's, etc, and at our shop, we prepare some road race vehicles. Having always wanted to try to get out on a track, this new shop I am at has truly lit a fire under my butt.
So I found out that they frequent a lot of COM events, up at Loudon. I went online tonight and read through pretty much all of the rules and regulations. I decided that racing skill and budget, I am most likely going to be in the "Street Touring" class. Now my question is-
Can I put a SOHC vtec motor and tranny in my civic cx?
The rules are kind of fuzzy on this to the untrained eye.
"Updating and back-dating of components are not allowed in Street Touring (ST), unless specified below. The original engine (or direct
replacement) that was manufactured with the car must be used"--FROM COMSCC.ORG "RULES REGULATIONS AND CLASSIFICATIONS.
The D16z6 came in other civics of this generation, a hatchback to boot.
The same goes for the brakes, sway bars, etc. Could install the bigger front brakes from an EX/Si?
Thanks!

I can go snap a pic... It's just an old beet up hatch in white with bad rust repair on the quarters, sittin high up on stock suspension, but rolling on kosei k1's. Its far from anything worth tracking right now, let alone worth posting a pic.

A Civic CX with a D16Z6 swap would be *the perfect platform* for FSP. That is an R-compound class. Any suspension, brakes, intake/header/exhaust, and you can add an LSD to the trans.
