Default Re: Seats and cage

Cobra seats have FIA homologation cert and have the appropriate decals for tech inspections.
I have the Sebring pro and its one awesome seat.

As you the thread grew more posts came in about slowing down.
Not bagging on you... but it does alot of good to read read read, and when you are absolutely sick of reading, read some more.
Every question you might have or dream of has been answered here on this forum.
You just have to search.
iIt gets old having to re-explain why you should build slowly when every new forum person thinks their build is either unique or they know more than those who already track a honda.

Find where ,and who you'd like to run with &build to that spec.
Keep in mind its better to under build than to spend spend spend.
The result will end up with a car that you cant go backwards on in order to run it in a certain series.
Rulebooks change from year to year as well. What was legal one year might be forbidden the next.

I get it, big bad *** fast builds are fun....I did it myself when I was doing just track days.

Then I opened the SCCA rules book and half the **** on my car was illegal, thats the downside to doing it this way.

Here is my advice, throw that book of parts away for the most part.

Build an STL car for SCCA since you want to run fast (Or an H2 car in NASA), this can still fit into chump and lemons racing....I'm currently doing this myself with a couple other guys since I sold my race car (B18C1 in a Del Sol).

Read the rules for STL in SCCA (or H2), build to spec.

Have a real cage installed, we are talking about your life and anyone else that has a seat in your car. Buy a B18C (gsr) and get it as close to the limits as you can in STL, this will save you some money off your list like using very expensive illegal parts (Skunk ultra manifold).

Allocate more money to your suspension, and not flashy stuff. You don't need Function7 rear arms, just use oem with poly bushings until you're at that point with the vehicle that you need spherical everywhere because you're a front running car. What you have listed on your dream sheet is more of a track day or time attack car, if you really want to race W2W in a series you need to totally re-adjust your thinking, like many have said.

Brakes? you're going to want something bigger than the 9.5 inch civic brakes or whatever they are. Spend that flashy money here, and get some wilwoods that are allowed in class (I ran 11 inch wilwoods in STL).

Any of us could make you a proper build list, but without you doing the research in each series you want to run the car in it is pointless.

FYI, I'm about your size and the most comfortable seat for me was RaceTech....they are of course on the higher end of the spectrum as well in terms of price.

Do you have a competition license? If not, you will have to go to school if you want to run SCCA....its actually very beneficial. If not SCCA, NASA has certain requirements for their comp license as well. Chump car is pretty much if you have a pulse and the money to buy the license.

The reason I didn't say build to chump or lemon spec, is because you wont, I can already tell you don't want to run a slow car.
