Re: Place your bets.
Going to be a problem free year. You're due for it. Those little things are about as bulletproof reliable as it gets. It's what we started with in our crx and after 18 race weekends, a mis-shift killed it. It was still going strong up until then and hadn't missed a beat.
Hopefully going to be a good year for us...I just finished our engine

Re: Place your bets.
We just installed a moroso pan so i took a good look at the pan that cam off. lol. There was a 1inch X 1/2inch x 1/4INCH rock in the oil pan. A 1inch long pin from something all beat to hell and lots of shinny metal. LOL. We lost VTEC 4 times last year and were running the car hard for a few laps when it happened the first time (didnt know why we lost VTEC so just keep running). The oil pick-up was hard into the pans once before from the marks i see in the pan. I run the motor hard, even running on the limiter in one spot of the track, and still the motor works great. I think its the motors 4th season, 2 with me and 2 before. Your luck blows we away. I hope this one continues to work good for you.
We run a old B17A1 motor.

Don't even start. The brakes gave me fits yet again at the first round! Dragging like crazy!

Re: Place your bets.
*UPDATE*
About 1200 track miles later, not a SINGLE problem. went back to a stock pan with baffles, used rotella and changed it every weekeknd. damn thing uses maybe a quart in 3 days which im fine with and it hasn't been to the dyno. just ran on an old tune, watched the AFRs and checked the plugs. i even finished 2nd in points in HC2! Redcivic92 (erik) beat me by 5 points!! If it wasnt for a few retirements i had, i would have won it (fogging windshield and 2 high water temp issues from grass in the grill and a rad cap working itself loose).

Re: Place your bets.
thats the plan. just keep changing the oil. heck, i only adjusted the valves once all season!
the winter mods/ upgrades will be small. the car works just fine and is fast enough to compete with the big C5s in the class. next year wil be about continuing the reliability and trying to make it to nationals at ROAD ATLANTA!!!!! Can't wait to race my down south brothers down there!!!
