Just cut the end off of the CRX control arm, cut the end off an Integra control arm, and then stuck the end from the Integra onto the CRX one

Air to water intercooler in the passenger footwell? And the radiator in the rear? Very nice. Probably helps a lot with weight distribution.

This is mental !

^^^ I'd like to know whether that is a decision purely for weight saving or whether there is more?

Not so much for weight savings/distribution as it is for more effective heat exchange for the charge air. On Pikes Peak the air is extremely thin at altitude, so an air-air intercooler is better than nothing but is extremely inefficient. Since the run is 10-12 minutes max, we can make ice blocks that are just small enough to fit in the opening of the water tank and have ice cold water for the entire run, and get MUCH better air cooling than if we were running a front-mounted air-air.

The radiator, on the other hand, is moved to the back for a few reasons. We can run smaller openings in the front end without having any heat exchangers (Radiator or intercooler) up front, and don't have to worry about having a large exhaust vent on the hood for the post-radiator air to escape, so the front end has a better aero profile from a few different standpoints; additionally it allows a simpler method for plumbing the radiator, as we're using an electronic water pump mounted under the intercooler (actually a pair of electronic water pumps if you count the intercooler water pump as well), and in order to route to the front of the car we'd have to get creative with the hoses to give proper clearance around the turbo and manifold. The inlet scoops that will be installed on the side windows and channel air down and back to the radiator will help a bit with the overall aero package as well, and we get the added bonus of having better weight distribution AND we don't risk breaking the radiator or any cooling components should we run off the course and hit a tree or something.

This is the best build I have seen on here in a while, truly unique and amazing work so far. In for more, good luck with the project!

This last few days we've been learning about setting up an AEM Infinity standalone. Quite an endeavor as the engine management we primarily use is the OEM Bosch / Siemens DME's on the Euro cars that we typically work on, and on top of that I'm not a tuner and I don't do tuning. On customers' vehicles we typically do the build and then bring in the appropriate tuner for whatever the build/engine management is...but, at any rate, after a few long, late, frustrating nights followed by a three-minute phone call From the World Famous Amazing Cody Loveland for him to say "Oh, yeah, that's tricky, you gotta do this," we got it fired up! I'll put up some videos of it running once we get it dialed in a bit better and get the pedals hooked up and the cooling system functioning 100%; everything is hooked up and plumbed, but there's a very very slight drip from one of the fittings on the back of the engine that I'd prefer to get at with the car on the lift, and both of our lifts are occupied at the moment...but, in the meantime, here are some photos of the progress we've made this week!

Made some custom shifty linkage...

...and mounted the Integrated Engineering surge tank to the side of the fuel cell cradle

Also scored a SWEET set of super-OG Mugen 1st gen CRX sway bars...they cost a few bucks, but SO worth it - the only sway bars I can find for this are add-on / clamp-on style that go on in addition to the factory bar, and after all the other work we're putting into the car I'm not going to do some hokey **** like clamp some aftermarket **** on with exhaust clamps. Wanted to make sure they were legit (although I have zero reason to doubt the seller), so we asked a friend of mine's Japanese girlfriend to translate...

Hopefully by the end of this weekend we'll have all the wiring in the car finished (Still have to do lights, wiper, defroster, and finish wiring in the water/meth injection setup) and get a good base tune on so we can let it sit here and idle! woot!

So the new front spindles make the suspension McPherson instead of Double Wishbone?

the originals are McPherson to begin with... he modified the newer and beefier spindle to work like a McPherson

Well, we got the car together and got it to Colorado for testing, and had a rod bolt break and blew the stroker motor. We picked up a B16 from Philip at Intercrew in Dallas on the way back to Houston from Colorado, overnighted pistons and rods from Brian Crower, sent the head to H Squared Race Engines to replace a few valves and check it over, and then a few days later had it back to Jason Herrera of Stoopidfast for a new tune. The smaller bottom end made 350whp on low boost, and we figured that was plenty for what we were working with. Made it to Pikes and had a ton of issues during race week practice, ranging from car not wanting to run to a control arm fastener detaching itself from the car to having a minor crash to blowing the head gasket on Friday and changing it Saturday morning before the car had to be on the mountain. Race day saw more frustration, with several red flags pushing my run late in the day - we qualified almost last due to the control arm fastener coming off during qualifying. Wound up overheating due to the fans not coming on (haven't tracked that down yet, the manual switch works but they didn't come on automatically as they should at 180*) and wound up DNF'ing the race.

Phooey.

That's racing!

Tough luck guys. That really sucks. I didn't make it down there to watch, but when I saw you didn't make it to sector 3 on the time sheets i was wondering what happened. Get her put back together and come back next year!
