300k around here either gets me a 2500 sq. foot cookie cutter 4/2 with a 45 minute commute or a 1800 sq. foot 3/1.5 with a 25 minute commute. The big thing is the taxes would be 5-8k on those properties compared to 4k on that house I linked.
The cost of living calculators comparing Chicago to Detroit are insane. The fiance has a decent job right now but she could go to work at McDonald's out there and we would still be ahead of this area.

The track based Ferrari's are retarded.
Pay more for less. Loud and annoying for cruising with your lady(s). Oh but you're really going to track that $250k car? Suuuuuureeeeeee.
Source: my rich friends that have Ferrari's, Porsche's, Aston Martins, etc. A Formula Mazda (or equivalent) is a cheaper, faster car to track. Save the Ferrari's for cruising Coral Gables.

Late to the party but agreed on the track focused supercars. 0.1% of them will ever see a track and even then they're not that fast. Buy a regular one and spend 20k on a track car.

feels like the right thing to do is keep my time on 2 wheels to a minimum until til we get whippersnapper out of the house.

My parents call motorcycles donorcycles.... My buddy has an r6. I've driven some fast **** in my life(I had a 500WHP stripped datsun 240z before college(**** tutition)) and after I got off that r6 for the first time I was all "**** dat shitttt" if you weren't paying 100% attention you would pull the front wheel. You just go 0 to dead real quick on those things.

A friend of mine rode this summer from SATX to Canadia. On his way back, a deer decided to say hello at ~55mph. Killed the dear, fuct up the front end of his bike pretty good, and he got beat to **** too. Right hand a little mangled.
Would've been worse if he was Mr. Gear Queer and suited up head-to-toe. But he still messed up mentally about riding.
