The only way that will happen is if Force India, Sauber, STR and Lotus factories are all destroyed by asteroids so they can no longer bring cars to the race - however if that DID happen, the 3 car clause would be invoked and McLaren would be SOL again. So, no, McLaren isn't going to beat anyone except Manor in the constructors this year. They still don't have a title sponsor and the sale of overpriced polo shirts isn't helping them as much as Ron hoped.

Williams decision to not allow Bottas to pass Massa will make Bottas want to leave Williams even sooner.

That may be true (about him wanting to leave Williams), but it's not like he'd be allowed to pass Seb at Ferrari anyways.

The grass may be greener, but it ain't that green.

And McLaren has locked up 9th in the constructor's this year. Unless Honda delivers Merc-like performance and reliability, they don't catch the Sauber's.

I really doubt Bottas would have been any quicker than Massa after they switched positions. DRS + draft gave him the illusion he was being held up.

Williams made the right call on that one.

I have no opinion on the rightness of William's call, but I don't think it would have gotten them ahead of Merc in the end either way.

Williams booboo (IMO) was not splitting the strategies and defending against the undercut. I agree Bottas probably wasn't all that much faster, and certainly not enough to run away from the Mercs.

Once they had a space open up behind them, they should have pit one of their cars. Merc did that with Hams and, well, you know what happened next.

didn't Bottas has better section times than Massa even when out of draft position and DRS zones? that was how i felt when they kept talking about his pace. ultimately i agree though that it probably wouldn't have mattered much.

Considering his tires were more worn than Bottas' after the first pit stop, pretty safe bet he was giving it the beans.
