Nitto NT-01 vs. Toyo RA-1
I'm beginning to think about tires for next year. I currently use the Toyo RA-1s and really like them but I have been reading about the Nitto tire and it seems to slot somewhere between the Toyo and the V710 in terms of speed and will last much longer than the Kuhmo but maybe not as long as the Toyo. The will be used for NASA TT events and open track days.
Does anybody have track time on the Nitto tires that could provide some feedback. A direct comparison would be nice as well. Thanks.

Re: Nitto NT-01 vs. Toyo RA-1 (Flux)
The Nitto NT-555RII has been the only R-compound tire I have used so far on my Camaro and they have held up great. They have 2 HPDE weekends, 1 Evolution Phase II school, nearly a dozen autocrosses, and 1000+ street miles on them and can probably last another Evolution Phase II equivalent or HPDE weekend. The NT-01 is the same compound as the NT-555RII, just with a different tread pattern that is slightly better in the dry but not as good in the wet. Toyo is the parent company of Nitto BTW...

After seeing Bitterman in his NT01 shod Miata walk away from other cars in the corners, I'm convinced! No shaving is required (unlike RA1) My NT01s seem to be holding up well. I like em.

Re: Nitto NT-01 vs. Toyo RA-1 (WWDTrackRacer)
From two different guys who have run them, I have heard they don't seem quite as grippy as the Toyos but that they suffer well under abuse and overheating. One guy said he could beat the living **** out of them and they keep coming back for more.
I think I'd like to try a set for the next enduro I run...

Just to clear up U say "suffer", but do you mean they TAKE more abuse than the Toyos?

Yeah, but don't infer by that that Toyo's are for your mom's car, either. They are tougher than most as well...

Re: Nitto NT-01 vs. Toyo RA-1 (thawley)
I think the battle here goes to RA-1s for the money. I saw an article saying the tread turned to slicks within 25 laps on Roush Stage III mustang.
Maybe the NT-01s can be faster on the track. I wouldn't mind reading about some stories or tests.. .
I read what the E46 guys said. Seems like a good tire to race on. Streets = no no unless you are in Nevada or Cali.
You can street RA-1s which is why I think I would still buy the RA-1s over the NT-01s on my HPDE/street non-daily driver

im on my second set of nt01s strictly for auto use and a few hundred miles od DD
it lasted me 9 months of autox racing....almost 200 runs on 50sec courses.
havent tracked them tho
and once the tread blocks are gone....you can forget about driving them in the rain
