Need me some education - Hoosier tire classifications
I currently have set of Hoosier R6's.
Someone is selling a set of Grand Am Cup Hoosier tires.
And another set of Hoosier Koni Grand Am Racing tires.
I'm assuming the GAC and the Koni Grand Am tires are one and the same, correct?
How do these compare to the R6's? I do not see them listed on the Hoosier website.
If I have a set of R6's on the front and a set of Grand Am Hoosiers in the rear, am I going to be unbalanced and asking for trouble?

The GAC and Koni GA tires should be the same. They will be less sticky than the R6, but should wear longer. An RX7 guy I know ran them, and was ~2 seconds off his R6 pace. I think sticking GACs in the back with R6s in the front would be asking for trouble, but I haven't driven that personally.

Some time after/during 07 the compound changed. The tires used to be slower then the Ra1. Now they are about ~2seconds faster then the Ra1.
The R6 is usually 2 to 2.5 seconds quicker then the Ra1.

I don't know if I want to make a tail happy car even more tail happy.
I can find a lot of Grand Am used tires, but no R6's. I just hate for my current set to go to waste, but they just are too big to fit the rear without rubbing.

One place is Turner Motorsports in Amesbury, MA.
The other guy is in Michigan.
I found a guy up in Canada with a bunch of used R6's for sale, but he won't return my emails.

Turner only has a couple. The guy in Michigan claims to have about 40.
Here is his response:
The difference is that the Koni tires have more plastic in them which make them last longer. the R6 tire is made to cycle out in about an hour where the koni tire times out in about 2 hours. the koni is more of an enduro tire made for the longer races that they run in the series.
I have never run the R6 but I love the koni that I run for 18-20 heat cycles.
