I searched to try and find some info about when they come out etc and didnt find anything Found some info to share.
Low void asymmetric tread pattern with circumferential grooving for high cornering grip.
Ultra fine carbon black compounding for maximum traction.
Ultra wide tread contact with highly rounded shoulders for optimized footprint shape during high lateral loads.
Developed for quick autocross warm-up while maintaining race track durability.
With a Y speed rating, the tire delivers an optimum run temperature of 205 degrees Fahrenheit.

Re: Kumho ecsta xs?? (B16B_coupe)
I asked a Tire Rack representative on 7/22/2008 when the 205/50-15 XS would be available and got this reply:

We expect to start receiving this tire around the beginning of September .</TD></TR></TABLE>

I found this. http://sccaforums.com/forums/2....aspx
It said that the price should be similar to that of the rt-615's.

Sorry for the delay in response as there's too much fun stuff to do in Vegas and little time to be in front of a computer.
According to Rick Brennan, a 205/50-15 Kumho XS will be available as the only 15" size. Another size that may work for the EF Civic is a 215/45-16. I believe a 225/50-16 will also be made. There will be many sizes available in 17s and 18s as expected.
I spoke to a chief engineer and he tells me that the Falken RT-615 was the benchmark and that their test driver is consistently faster on the Kumho. Internally the tire has been known as the FK (Falken Killer). The test driver has also been faster on the new Kumho over the Bridgestone RE-01R.
If you're wondering why the one of the circumferential grooves is closer to the outside, it is for better rain performance without sacrificing dry grip.
Construction and design is finalized. Compound has yet to be finalized should be in orderly fashion to meet the April deadline. Cannot say whether all the sizes will be immediately available but time will tell.
Prices should be similar to Falken RT-615 prices which will represent a good deal for such a fast tire.</TD></TR></TABLE>

IMO, why wait to get these tires when you can get something that works just as well (if not better) for roughly the same amount of coin?
Azenis, dunlop, toyos to name a few.

Seriously, several of these new tires claim to be Azenis killers, with ST* class auto-x in mind, yet none of them come in a usable 225 size for STS cars...
225/45-15 would be fine with me, as would 225/40-16 or even 225/35-17. (Yeah, I ain't givin' no love to the EFs. They already win enough as it is.)

The Dunlop 15s run 7.9" on a 6" rim
The Azenis 15 205s run 8.2" on a 6.5" rim
Put the Dunlop on the same rim and they will be about the same width eventhough it's rated 195 not 205.
