Re: headlight intake for track car
Most of these items are custom built and painted to look good.
Drag racers use these for the most part but I have seen them on some track cars.
Google search and you can find a good many examples to start yours.
That's your best bet if you want to do it on the cheap.
Check some of the drag racing forums and sites... No wait here is one.

It doesn't look like the one you show, but Im betting 99% of the ones you see in most pics are simply regular headlights hollowed out and painted up.

Re: headlight intake for track car
cool, thnx for the help.
the design pictured looked like it could possibly use some kind of integra headlight fixture.
would be perfect for driving to the track and taking out ( or leaving in taped up) while having a direct intake plenum.
either way thnx, gave me a good idea of where to start some research.

Some of the concoctions are simply made using the gutted OEM lights and simple tubes.
You can use PVC pipe, toilet paper rolls or anything that you can wrap fiberglass with.
Materials for fabrication can be bought at most Tap Plastics stores.

Re: headlight intake for track car
that is what my thought was. hit up the junk yard and find a 6th gen headlight, open it up and gut it, find some materiel to mold n such for fiber glassing and mold for the intake section then mold part of it to house possibly integra lights or a section of integra lights.
or something similar/equivalent that will work on the street for lighting.
seems simple enough. given buying one would be convenient but nothing wrong with going custom haha

For most of these headlight intakes, they are usually DIY.
Get a spare headlight from the junkyard, measure up and drill holes (usually the high beam, so you can retain the low beam) then build your duct.
