Hawk quiet stop rotors for track?
I'm running a 1992 Integra RS in NASA-MA time trials. I'm running stock brakes. I had been running DTC-60 pads with advance auto wearever rotors, but i developed a huge radial crack.
Has anyone here used Hawk quiet stop rotors for track days, time trails, or racing? The metallurgy sounds pretty good, and i can get the rotors discounted through the NASA contingency program.
I'd be looking at pairing these with a Hawk race pad such as Blues, HT-10, or DTC-60. Vehicle is about 2430# with me in it and has minor bolt-ons.

Re: Hawk quiet stop rotors for track?
Well, i already went the local autostore route, but the rotors showed signs of stress cracking and developed a huge radial crack that made me miss out on two sessions, so "free replacements" isn't really worth it to me when i loose track time.
I am thinking brembo blanks or trying the hawks since i can get contingency. Whenever i go to local auto stores i usually get two different design rotors, even though they are the same part number.
I'd rather pay a little more for a good rotor than replace rotors every two days and potentially put the car into a wall due to brake failure.

I think what you experienced there (cracking) was pretty much the exception to what you think the cheaper autozone, orieleys type rotors would do.
Most of us will get a half season to a full season out of our rotors.
This is all dependent on how you drive though.
Bringing spares is always a good idea anyway.
So when you compare the price vs getting a new set free there is no question where the money is best spent.
If you want to pay more for the name or the bling thats ok... but most of us here who take that route actually race wheel to wheel.
We know what works, and what is just a waste of time.
I know from my personal experiences I have never ever had or seen a rotor crack like that.
FYI 95% of all rotors no matter what the brand are made in the same factory in china.

2 sets of lifetime rotors is about the same maybe a bit less than brembo blanks(unsure what your contingincry discount is though) you always have a spare set. one cracks or goes bad replaceit and at the end of the night run out, exchange and you have another back up for the next day.
the poor mans type r setup may be a better setup if the stockers aren't up to the task (dual piston legacy calipers with mini cooper base model rotors) and again you can buy lifetime rotors

I cracked another rotor, this time the autozone variety after 2 days, only a few sessions each day.
Going brembo or hawk quiet slot, OR Wilwood BBK. I'd like the 11" rotor setup, but wilwood only seems to offer the 12.1" kit for integras. I'm afraid this wouldn't clear my wheel.

Re: Hawk quiet stop rotors for track?
The only rotors I have had crack on me like that were Brembos (blank), go figure.
I have been going with cheap OEM replacements since and usually buy a set of new rotors every time I change the pads (2-3 times a season). I have had no issues in about 3 years. At the price they go for compared to the fancier brand rotors, I think it's a good deal.

I'm now running the 11.6" kit from FastBrakes. I opted for the Centric high carbon rotors. So good so far with the DTC-60 pads. Rotors look good!
