#4
think bout all the other cars that road race. there are alot of them that race and weigh more then an EK w/h22. As long as you can corner, brake, control ur car u should be good. Plus have fun

Re: EK with a H22 good for road racing?? (motore)
Most classes you would race a car like that will have a min weight, so unless you were having trouble getting down to it, weight is not a large concern. There is a general feeling that an H22 is so heavy it will throw off your front/rear weight distribution. This might be a concern in autoX, but the difference between that and a b18 is not extreme, and dare I say that the extra weight on the front wheels will help you keep that extra torque you are going to be making on the road. When people complain about H22 swaps being pushy cars, and then blame it on weight, I think it is an over site that they probably just added 80hp to the front wheels. That will make any car push more. You just have to have to develop a disciplined right foot.
We road raced a H22 swapped DA in USTCC for 3 succesful events, and that car was fast. We noticed no significant handling differences between that and our H4 DA, and it was FAST. It took a USTCC and FWD rookie, Doug Fournier, to 3 consectutive top tens in 20+ car fields. Unfotunately, it got wrecked at the SJGP. Pictures are in Grassroots Motorsports for any interested(of the wrecked shell, that is).

Depending on whether I can get my racecar fixed in time, my H22 could conceivably see some track time at Summit before the year is out...
