There's a decent sized **** storm over the tech shed results... wild dyno swings/innacuracies over the course of the weekend resulted in quite a few people being bounced.

Yeah, it sucks for all involved... a bunch of (IMHO) legal folks got the shaft and a bunch of (IMHO) also legal folks ended up with the trophies. It seemed like a bit of a crap-shoot as to which cars went over vs. under. Reading accounts of people in other classes PULLING timing, re-dynoing, and instantly making more power than the prior run doesn't inspire much confidence. One of my friends in PT managed to dyno almost 10% higher than he had anywhere/anywhen else in the midst of the GA heat... all while changing nothing on the car. Seriously shitty situation...

Re: east coast honda challenge info
I haven't seen/heard anything from the TT guys... there's some conversation/info over on the Box. I checked NASA's forums and was unsurprised to see a complete black-out on information over the issues.
Edit:
I got a PM from one of the NASA Mods... apparently there's just nobody talking about this weekend's events on their forums.

I talked to one TT guy and I didn't hear any negative feedback, but I am aware of a few issues people were having. The official HC results haven't been posted yet, so who knows what is going on. At least the issue with the scales was fixed... and I got to find out how much I was overweight!

so far, all of us in the top 5 were DQ'd for one thing or the other. 1, 4 & 5 (myself) were dq'd for too much power. 2&3 were dq'd for rear wings overhanging the body line.
we honestly don't know who the winner is.

Wow starting to look like all the mess that happened at miller a few years ago.
I think there should be some improvements made to the pre race tech inspections.
Cant speak to how other regions do it but I believe So. Cal has their stuff together.
From my experiences down there they dyno cars before the races, usually on the Friday before the races.
If there are any marginal wings or aero it should be addressed before a car takes the track.
Traveling all that way to get dq'd Bummer!

Re: east coast honda challenge info
there was no 'pre-tech'
i dont do that locally either, but i know every car WAY too well. we don't run the caps locally either, so no need for dyno pulls (thank goodness)

Re: east coast honda challenge info
First of all, according to the Honda Challenge rulebook..
12. NASA Honda Challenge National Championship Event
• Any competitor found to be competing over the allowed maximum horse power limit for
their particular engine classification will be disqualified from their previous session
unless the particular competitor has an additional 18lbs. for each horse power they are over the maximum limit for the duration of the event.
It seems to me that this rule ONLY applies to a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT. This particular event was labeled as the "2014 - NASA EASTERN STATES Championships". Since it's an EAST COAST championship, that would make it a REGIONAL event and hence, the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT rule wouldn't necessarily apply. In all honesty, it should've been ESTABLISHED (not presumed) whether or not this rule applies. As far as I remember, REGIONAL rules on HP caps is a region by region basis.
If it does apply, was anyone overweight 18lbs PER HP they were over?
HAHA! Damn that Meris guy and the unofficial "Meris rule"....still bites people in the *** 4 years later.

If that doesn't spell it all out I don't know what does?
So I guess what should be asked.... was this a National or Regional event?
Since there is more than one region, and each region is having its individual event my .02 is regional rules apply.
Thanks for digging into the rule book Jonathan.
That Meris guy... lol
