Default building a crx track car

a friend had the car built by a shop a long time ago and did a few autox and a couple track days. i'm looking for some recommendations on turning this car to a more dedicated track car.

the car have jdm b18c swap with ITR hydro tranny

first, we want to remove the wilwood dynapro 6 pistons bbk front and rear, since they need 16" wheels to clear. i was thinking using integra calipers but now looking into wilwood DPHA calipers and integra rotors.

the car didn't have much camber, so we got skunk2 front and rear camber control arms. i'm thinking of starting off with 2.6* front and 2.2* rear

we have the Special Project front slitter kit but the air dam is made for usdm front bumper. and we have jdm front bumper. also the front cross member interfere with the mounting brackets for the splitter. the brackets mounts to where to oem tow hooks are and the cross member is in the way.

we're going with Enkei PF01 15x8 +35 wheels. will there be fitment issues with 225/45/15 tires?

my friend wants more power, so we're going to turbo it. looking to get around 300 whp. we want to keep the 2" full size radiator to keep the engine cooled but not sure if there's room for the turbo. i have a friend make a custom manifold and dp for me, along with all IC and all the pluming.

since we're going to turbo it, we wont be running HC. just DE and Time Attack/Time Trials.

Front Crossmember: think outside the box, personally I'd retain the stock unit they are better than aftermarket traction bars and you can get spherical bearings. A friend of mine notched and reinforced his to allow the PCI brackets to work.

Stay NA and spend your money elsewhere.

Yes you will have some fitment issues with the wheels you describe, with the 225's you'll have to roll the lips in the rear at least.

Do you have any more pics of where you notched the dash for that cage? Just curious, I am going to put a front hoop in my CRX and debating whether to go in front or through the dash or not.

i think it's innovative front cross member. i can probably weld the PCI bracket to the front cross member and move the brackets thats already bolted to the splitter.

we're definitely going to turbo it. he wants more power. we were looking at k20 swap, but that's going to be to much work and more money.

currently running RPF1 16x8 +38 with 225/45/16 and the rear lips are already rolled.

i'll take some pics of the cutout on the dash for the cage tonight.

Nice looking car.... if the driver doesn't have much track time...he won't go faster with a turbo. I promise. Haha

It takes a lot of time to find all the speed in a crx. Rotating in turns and using WOT almost all the time is the way

Cool project. I'm getting my car ready for the track too.

I'm going to start off with my stock brakes (EH3 Si) until I have a feel for the track. But I've done some research on OEM brake upgrades. I will probably go with late 90's prelude VTEC brake rotors (re-drilled) and DC2-R calipers (or Acura CL). Dual piston versus single.....haven't educated myself enough to decide. But they will fit the PF01's (I have same rims)

Good luck on the build. I prefer all motor for track cars but turbo is pretty sweet and always fun.

That thing looks awesome. Those wheels/tires should fit with a good roll and maybe a touch more camber. I've been able to clear 225/45 Hoosiers up front on +35 15x9's with an 8mm spacer running about -3.5* camber. On the back I've been able to run the same size Hankooks R comp on a 7.5" wheel with a roll.

I agree with the NA thing. Build something big CR and cammed as long as it's tight geared...well, just my $.02.

I think that it was Fast brakes that offered a kit to run 11" Corrado rotors on stock 9.5" knuckles.

we both have Evos, so we're addicted to power. lol
i hate spending thousands to chase a couple HP with NA cars. did that for over 10 years with hondas.

Swapped out the Wilwood rear BBK for Integra rear brakes this weekend. Everything bolt up good. Now just need to get oem ebrake cable, or just leave them out. Also installed skunk2 upper camber arm.

Waiting for the Wilwood DPHA front calipers to arrive. Hope they will fit the crx knuckles.

Thanks for the pic of the dash. Looks like you finished it off pretty cleanly, surprised you could sneak it above the grey section.

If you're removing the Wilwoods from your track car, would you consider parting with them?

I'd like to offer you some potentially useful information for your track build. You'll need tuning and alignment suggestions as you start to work on your suspension. Andy Hollis and his OneLap CRX are a great example of a well done road racing CRX. He finished first in his class during the one lap, and 10th overall beating out Vipers, M3s, and other finely tuned machines with his K24 CRX. He even did it with rear drums. He's an expert amature racer and his build would be a good one to shadow. Find him and the specs for his car here:

www.facebook.com/OneLapCRX/notes

I've fashioned my tuning around his build and am finding that the CRX has a lot of stability at speeds above 120 while still maintaining excellent turn-in and mid-corner balance. Here's my CRX and Specs

i got the DPHA calipers today also. here's a comparison between wilwood 6 pistons 12.2" rotors vs DPHA and 10.2" rotor. also Enkei PF01 15x8 +35 wheels fitment.

Here's the pad size difference between the 6 pistons and DPHA calipers. The smaller pad is for DPHA.
